Newby question - Hire a theater developer?
-
Hello,
New guy here. Sorry if this is a silly question or has been asked before (I couldn’t find anything by browsing the forum). I am amazed at the work that the theater developers have done, especially considering this is basically free work done for the love of the sim, using limited free time
Obviously, with the limited number of qualified developers, and the ever growing demand to fix/update existing theaters, create their own new theaters, etc., I understand getting someone to work on a new theater is a very difficult proposition.
But I was wondering. What if someone offered to hire a developer to work on a particular theater? Or to be more precise, what if I wanted to hire someone to work on a new theater?
Perhaps splitting the process of developing a theater in stages, and assigning a monetary value for each step completed. Would that be something people here would be interested?
If yes, then the obvious next question is how much would this work cost? I have no idea how many (many many) hours this type of work would require or how to properly compensate it, but I would like to hear your perspective on this as well.
Cheers,
Vic.

You have all the stuff ready to make the theater??

I don’t. To be honest, as someone with no modding experience in BMS it is not clear to me what “stuff” is even needed to make a theater. Any input is appreciated.

LOL, what area of the world are you interested in??

Perhaps something like this? Not sure all of this fits into a standard F4 map but you get the gist.

Hmm,
Something like this??

Yeah that works! Perhaps moving the box a bit to the east, to exclude Panama (there is already a great theater covering Panama) and to catch more of Guyana.
Thanks for the input, although I’m not sure that answers any of my original questions

That’s an already made WIP theater of mine.
Of course I could make something shifted to the right, but I’m already working on multiple theaters!!

LOL, I still have something I need to get to you, but I got sidetracked. Just some art files to sort and I’ll be with you shortly….
1-2 weeks!!!

No hurries… I’m busy with some b-testing ATM.

Thanks for the reply. I completely understand that most developers are juggling multiple projects, plus real life.
Given that I am in no rush on this either, I am still curious on the proposition of offering some monetary incentive to add a project to the list, slowly make progress, and not let it die like the tens of theater ideas that couldn’t get any traction (Angola, Cuba, Chile, Vietnam, Nevada, etc.). To be clear, the end product would still be free and available to everyone.
Maybe I should also ask what kind of “stuff” is needed for a project like this? What would you (or anybody else interested) need to be provided for a project to take off?.

Time, free time.

For all the people that are working on theater development the biggest motivation for doing that is passion - doing something you enjoy in your free time. So convincing somebody to work for monetary gains using really old and in some way tedious processes to create something for your enjoyment is going to be a challenge (IMHO).
If you really want to see your vision realized in the Falcon World, you better start it yourself. Learn, do things, inspire other people and you may eventually find others who will help you because you share the same passion…

This is the most useful advice you can get. I recommend you to listen him Victorinox, you’ll see it will work.
