Aloha Ram22, that’s fine can I get a copy of that theater?

Any update on this project? 3-4 Falcon weeks maybe?

Currently the project, on my end, is suspended.
Due mostly to the Tile Limit in Falcon BMS.There is also a noticeable FPS hit when using PhotoReal image’s for the tile’s.Maybe some Falcon day???

That´s pitty, but maybe also typical for alot of fail-falcon projects. Started with enthusiasm and broke before ever completed …
The attempt counts young man … and maybe one day ?

You mean thinking outside the box and Falcon slams you right back into the box ?

So Rimpac is getting ready to kick off and the jets have been going crazy at Hickam lately.
I was out yesterday and saw two interesting things. First, a flight of F-22s took off, presumably to tangle with a pair of F-15s that had taken off earlier (along with a KC-135). I was paddling in as the F-22s returned. As usual the flew the break upwind abreast of one another, broke left at the same time. However, lead must have intentionally or inadvertently hit his thrust vectoring or something. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. He rolled into a 90 degree’ish bank like normal, passed crosswind, and then the jet just…pivoted…for lack of a better word, almost right in place. It was extremely unusual, he just did 90 degrees of turn practically in-place it seemed like. Now dash-2 is following lead but does his turn like normal. He levels out crosswind, then banks again and levels out downwind (like normal), and then banks back towards the runway to correct his line up on lead since lead cut so much off his turn. I thought maybe I imagined lead’s turn, but when I saw two have to correct I knew I had seen something unusual. Quite cool.
Second, like I said, the F-15s took off before the F-22s. They were out for my whole 2-hour session, so they must have gassed up at some point as they usually only stay out an hour. Anyway, I’ve noticed that when the F-16s or F-15s come out here to play with the F-22s they carry external tanks (obviously) for the trip out, but they also seem to always keep the tanks on when they go out to scrimmage. I would think that degrades their performance significantly. I wonder why they don’t unload the externals while they’re here and then put them back on for their trip back to the mainland? I can only guess that they’re worried that if they take the externals off, they might get a malfunction when they reattach them that causes them not to work properly, so you’d have to fly a team out to fix the jet at that point. Or maybe they’re only running intercepts and don’t need the extra maneuverability. Or maybe carrying empty externals is no big deal, but I find that unlikely.
Well, that’s it I guess.

I’ll be passing through PHIK next week, staying a day before heading on…

WOW, its a seriously small world….you just helped me get BMS working…
We have some thing in common that only the two of us out of the entire world can say…BTW, I’ve used this handle since F4’s original release, care to take a guess what my claim to fame is?
Currently the project, on my end, is suspended.

My memory is not what it used to be……BUT I do remember a Crossup from Frugs…One in the same???
The Streak…that should give it away…
Dave
PS Glad you got it flying…one of the best iterations of Falcon over the years…IMHO…Hell, I have a hard time making it CTD, That’s saying something for the .exe, good job there BMS Boyz"…

DAVE,
I did Hawaii in 2003 :D, out of 7 billion people on earth how many can say they did Hawaii for F4?
So yes, I’m one of the Frugal gang…like so many here, pretty amazing sim that can keep peoples interest for 15 years.
So I see you’ve stopped working on Hawaii…I’m getting old but HATE leaving projects unfinished. My Hawaii was complete as far as function and I did the mods so it ran on the orginal BMS, FF and the oldies like SP3 but rather than spend endless time tweaking stock tiles to make it still look like Dueky(hey remember him/his tiles?)I decided to break new ground with new tiles. Not just any old tiles but photorealistic ripped out of FLY!2. A bunch of super guy helped me with tools and info- notablly the guy who wrote CATE, he did custom programs for me and BaldEagle. But as one guy, I just didn’t have the time to master object construction, manufacture tiles, and of course ran into the limitation of the EXEs back then. So while I succeeded in importing the tiles and getting things working enough to take pics, 4096 tiles just didn’t get the job done and I had issues with LOD’s and custom airbases etc.WOULD love to see if we could get a state of the art Hawaii finished, I still have most if not all of my work/tools/files as I keep all my old drives/arrays. Just snagged a HP Prolient DL380 G5 server to pervert into a killa workstation(using it for this message- Dual Quadcore Xeons at 3.16ghz, 16gb ram, SSD and Raid5 drives, EVGA GTX660Ti) so work goes ultra fast- this thing can serious make chit happen NOW)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh…SP3 days…much has changed…but welcome back!!!
The Hawaii shot’s I have posted are based on a new Dem2Terra…though I tip my hat to your original work, believe it was Team Hawaii or something like that, correct me if I’ve forgot…LOL
It’s been what??? 8-9 years now???
I would be happy to send you the new map that works in BMS,… but remember our hands are tied to the L2 limits ATM -
@ “Crossup” and “demer928”
Go for that theater Gentlemen!
You will have my small support in creation of NavAids and their list with data based to real world as also some nice IAP charts for the most important airbases ;)!
With regards,
Nikos. -
Well, I’ve looked high and low and have concluded that my screen shots of my photoreal, imported from Fly!2 terrain pictures died with Frugals. Still have to rescue some old harddrives at my old house and check them, their the right vintage. BUT I did find a page of tiles in my TerrrainView folder which are the some of ones my photoreal test photos used. Should give you’all a taste of it
-
@Crossup, check your PM’s
@Nikos and others……Stay Tuned

@Nikos and others……Stay Tuned
I stay tuned since years, LOL.

(not just endgame on day x)Cheers,

Hope to see something we can fly soon. Thanx again.

Ok, totally forgot I had a Yahoo Hawaii theater group. So fortunately several screen shots from my test of using hires tiles from Fly!2 still exists. Also now realize the ole memory is not too accurate….I was doing this testing from Xmas 2001 to May 2002. That is actually before I made SP3 and BMS compatible versions of Hawaii.
From the descriptions my memory was correct too that I did have a working campaign and tested the terrain while playing it…while it worked, missions were generated VERY slowly and I never figured out how to accelerate the action.
Enjoy… -
