F18 and HTS

Cannot find how to carry HTS at the F18e, is it posible ?.- Didnt try with the f18C

Him Soldano. I hate to tell you, but the Navy never bought HTS, though I really wish they had. There’s no way to get it on the Bug or Rhino.

What a pity, maybe we can make donations to help the Navy with the HTS

…they use another interface - the Hornets do not use HTS. And that’s just one more portion of the BMS Hornet that is missing.

Actually, Stevie, everything I’ve read indicates that while the HARM missile was/is a Joint USN/USAF project, HTS is not. IRL, the Navy hasn’t bought it, why remains a great question. So, as I understand it, it’s not a BMS thing.

I’m not really familiar with how the HTS works or is interfaced, but I do know the Navy’s system is pretty sophisticated and allows for a great(er?) deal of flexibility as far as integrating the weapon into the aircraft. HTS is the older system, so I would guess that it’s also the most/more limited.

That’s interesting. The only HTS I know of the ASQ-213 and that’s only for the Viper. I know it’s not in BMS, but I’m still curious. What is the Navy system you speak of?

https://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/agm-88.htm
“The CP-1001B/C HARM Command Launch Computer (CLC) is an electronics subsystem installed on the airframe to interface with the AGM-88 A/B/C HARM Missile. The CLC and associated software package are compatible with all AGM-88 A/B/C missiles. The CLC receives target data from the missile and onboard avionics, processes the data for display to the aircrew to the appropriate display, determines target priority, and collects aircraft data for pre-launch hand-off to the AGM-88 HARM missile. The CLC determines time coincidence between the AGM-88 HARM missile and the RWR directional data and pulse repetition intervals and formats. The identification data is processed by the CLC to perform target identification, prioritization, and display information. The CLC generates targeting commands to the AGM-88 HARM missile for appropriate target and provides Targeting and guidance information for the AGM-88 to Target Of Interest (TOI) on offensive attack missions.”
BTW - the CLC is not a pod. The HTS pod was developed first I think…I can’t really think of another jet that uses it now other than the F-16 (F-4, maybe?). It’s old-tech.
