FINALLY: A new good AMD driver on windows 7!
-
Hello dear friends.
All of us that have/use an AMD graphics card on windows 7 (and ONLY), have for a long time (since July 2017) “stuck” on driver v17.7.1 in order to avoid issues with the extra theaters of BMS.
I think that now is the big time to get off this.
After I got a heads up by my friend “dema”, I checked the latest AMD driver v19.10.1 (file “Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-2019-Edition-19.10.1-Oct7.exe”).
I have Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 x64 and a Sapphire RX 570 4 GB graphics card.
I checked all 3 BMS versions, means 4.32, 4.33U1 and 4.34. I checked the first 2 with Aegean theater. I checked 4.34 with Balkans theater. Also I checked POH theater at all 3 BMS. Aegean, Balkans and POH theaters were at the list of theaters with issues (exception of extra theaters was the Israel theater that was working fine).
All 3 BMS were smooth and stable. Of course I didn’t spend a lot of time in use, BUT they were running just fine.
In comparison with the previous v17.7.1 driver, this new v19.10.1 driver is slower by 0,6% at DirectX 9 (checked via Futuremark 3DMark06 program).
Below you can see my AMD driver settings as also the settings at all 3 BMS (profiles for 3 BMS deleted and used the Global Graphics settings):AMD driver settings
BMS 4.32 settings
BMS 4.33U1 settings
BMS 4.34 settings
So I welcome you to taste/check it, and post here your remarks in order to we all verify that is a stable and good driver at all extra BMS theaters.
A Thank you to my friend “dema”.Nikos.

CONCUR this WORKs!! Thanks and KUDOS to YOUR PAL Dema!!

Its a bit of a side-step from the subject I guess, but could you tell me your CPU and BMS config graphics settings? I seemed to be getting better results with application controlled settings on my older driver with a rx580 and i5 3570

Hello my friend.
Well the specifications of my pc are:Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro white (full tower)
Case fans: Noctua NF-A14 ULN & Noctua NF-S12A ULN
PSU: Enermax Platimax D.F. 600W
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3
CPU: Intel i7-6700 (by factory Max Turbo Frequency at 4.0GHz)
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366
RAM: Kingston HyperX KHX2400C15/8G x2 (at 2,133MHz)
SSD: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB (NVMe - PCIe x4)
SSD backup: Kingston HyperX Savage SHSS37A/480G (SATA 3)
Graphics card: Sapphire Pulse RX570 ITX 4G
Monitor: LG W2343T-PF (23" DVI-D)
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster Z
Speakers: Logitech Z533 (2.1)
DVD-RW: Liteon IHAS124 (SATA 1)I made in the past a lot of tests with AMD drivers settings, but never saw better permormance with application controlled. Instead with A/A at x4 and A/F at x16 I have more fps and a little more clear visual.
This confirmed with Futuremark 3DMark06 program.
Are you sure that with application controlled you get more fps? Which exactly AMD driver do you use right now?
P.S. the BMS config graphics settings seemed at my photos at the 1st post ;).Nikos.

Niko i have the Sapphire RX 580 nitro 8Gb i am using the 17.7.1 drivers …. does the AMD driver v19.10.1 work with BMS 4.34 windows 7 64 bit?
Can you post your FPS in the Korean stress test and Aegean increment >?
use supesampling for better MFD text

Antoni my friend,
As you can read at my 1st post, yes AMD driver v19.10.1 works smooth (made a small time test, BUT at least in that time was just fine) not only with extra add-on theaters for BMS 4.34, but also with the extra theaters into BMS 4.33U1 and 4.32.
So it is a complete solution for us that use windows 7 and have an AMD graphics card. Of course we must taste it for some time in order to be sure for it. But the first taste seemed to be good.
About supesampling, I really have no issues at text on MFD’s with multisampling ;).
Last about the performance of the v19.10.1, I already mentioned to 1st post that is very slightly slower than the driver v17.7.1. Only by 0.6%, means nothing.

Well testing a little more,
I checked POH theater at all 3 BMS (4.34, 4.33U1 and 4.32) and was smooth and stable!
POH was a theater that had issues with previous AMD drivers (after the v17.7.1).
So it seemed that this new AMD driver v19.10.1 be a great one for windows 7 users that have an AMD graphics card.

I will test again tomorrow, but are quite sure . Using driver version 16 at the moment. With BMS settings I also mean the shaders, shadows etc. Those don’t show in BMS UI, but in the configuration menu from the launcher instead.

the only issue that still rears it ugly head is the Leaky HUD when you look past HUD Frame with Track IR …i have managed to resolve this by using the Reshade D3D9.dll without any shaders enabled . no requirement to use with or without shaders i just cant get a good FPS with shaders … but the Leaky HUD is gone ,

O.k. now I got it.
Well I’m using the default ones by the installation. If you need then, I will post a photo tomorrow for you ;).

Nah, I’m good. Re-tested, and fps is roughly the same, it’s the graphics “quality” that’s a bit different. Nothing bothersome though. 45 fps while looking straight ahead in the benchmark TE, systems still off. (i5-3570k stock, RX580 4Gb stock, 8gb 1600 Mhz, MSI Z77-G43 mobo)

I also just updated to these new drivers and I can confirm that the black screen issue is gone.
So I stay on these drivers for now also because fps seems to be same, if not better then previous drivers used.
Only things during update was the eyefinity install that was not going as smooth as I hoped for (old settings were not preserved and creating new one was not easy) and anti aliasing seemed a bit worse than before in game while using same settings as before.
Glad the issue that was suddenly introduced so long ago is also fixed again then, so suddenlyCheers Obi1

With my system I prefer to set all to app controlled with just shader cache on, just that, without any optimizations, and quality standard (running at 4k).
In bms setup graphic all checked with multisampling at 4.
I don’t use AA in drivers cause multisampling is already a good AA friend, and in falcon works perfect.per vertex setting in config to gain more fps in taxi if you don’t need taxi lights.
Hdr and motion blur off in config, all shaders on.
Cheers

Juhuu , Thanks for heads-up Eystratiou…
They’ve finally fixed this:
*With v-sync enabled FPS may be locked to 30 on some displays set to 75hz refresh rates. (they needed the whole year to fix it - … after 3 generations , lol, amd…ati .)
Dema…
You really should turn off - AA and AF in BMS and apply both via driver profile , that was preferable since BMS 4.32/33 … it won’t hurt to test … (and I’ll test other way around to see if any improvements, now with new driver 19.10)
and one more thing - set Tessellation to ‘app’ in profile … since ‘amd optimized’ is maxed out with NO point , reducing fps … well, long ago I’ve read that somewhere … maybe it was changed by now, … google about it) -

I will check this and inform/reply back.

Hello friends.
I just checked the new AMD driver v19.11.1 on windows 7 x64, and it is also fine with extra theaters at all 3 BMS, means at 4.32, 4.33U1 and 4.34.
Also it is slightly faster that previous v19.10.1 by 0.05%.
Last I checked the “Tessellation Mode”. With “AMD optimized” to be slightly faster by 0.08% than with “Use application settings”.
All the tests made via Futuremark 3DMark06 program for DirectX 9 at resolution of 1,920x1,080.

what do you think about new drivers are better for FPS ? can someone can make a compare?

My friend Antoni, as I said to my previous post, the new driver v19.11.1 is slightly faster that previous v19.10.1 by 0.05% (almost nothing by the way).
This measured via Futuremark 3DMark06 program for DirectX 9.
So feel free to use/taste it. Of course make a good uninstallation of the current one!

2 more new driver since. 19 11.2 & 3. Tested 3 and working OK no frame rate improvement noticed

Hello friends.
I just tasted/checked the new AMD driver v19.12.1 on windows 7 x64.
It seemed to be stable and fine with extra theaters at all 3 BMS, means at 4.32, 4.33U1 and 4.34.
At comparison, it is slightly slower by 0.15% at DirectX 9 and slightly faster by 0.03% at DirectX 11 than the AMD v19.11.1 driver.
