Cougar Buttons assginment mix up
-
Hello Cougar users,
I used my cougar for over a year without any problems. I am using it without “Buttons & Axis emulation”, so no DX. The input is made over the HOTAS Cougar Control Panel.
Now I have the problem, that the button assignment is mix up. Trigger 1 (HW button) is still Triger 1 (SW button), but Trigger 2 (HW button) is now MSL Step (SW button).
The same problem is with the TMS, CMS and DMS. Some buttons are still working correctly, some are not.I flahed the cougar firmware with HOTASUpdate.exe but this did not resolve the problem
Also I checked the drivers for IN and OUT in the Hardware manager, but there was also OK.What can I do now, to solve the problem?
Greetings Anvil

Well if you use CCP go to the CCP Viewer and test the buttons and see if they correspond to the correct button presses… if they are correct there check your keyfile in BMS…

This was the first thing I did. In the meantime I found out, that the paddelswitch is not workig at all. Maybe this button is broken and therefore the other buttons are shifted by one. Also when I programmed the keyfile to the “new” button assigment, I saw that they were shifted by one.
When is paddelswitch is broken, is there are chance to get a spare part for this?
Greetings

This evening a squadronmember check together with me the Cougar.
Button S1 to S3 are working correctly. Button S4 / Paddelswitch is not working. Every button after S4 then is shifted by one.
We think the ele. board is brokenRegards Anvil

I have one problem similar but in TQS the dogfight, UHF, and microsiwtch all this buttons is pressed.
I was on a flight and suddenly these buttons began to push themselves on and off. I removed the drivers, cleaned the cougar memory and even installed everything on another windows xp computer and the problem is the same.Is it the TQS board? if that’s where I find another one?

I have the some problem, some buttos change the position and stay pressed, in my case is from the cougar and the throttle.
One technical send me message to check the diods from throttle and all work perfectly.
Some body can help us?

Did you try recalibrating?
-
@Icarus Yes, with and without throttle to check if the diods is damage in first test. I open the throttle and the board have in diods vermilion, i clean and check if works. Yes all diods is work correctly.
after the buttons of stick have the same problem, i believe is some component in board. If somewhere have the same problem and give a north to i fix this problem.
Thanks

@Anvil did you find any boards to change? I have the same problem as you
-
@gusva something I vaguely remember from long ago, I don’t remember if it was stick, throttle or both but, one of the male connectors on the circuit board has 2 extra header pins than the female connector and if not paying close attention you may connect incorrectly causing lots of button malfunctions.
Of course it wouldn’t make the buttons stick but, just putting this out there, in case. -
@Badger Where in board? You remember, the stick connector? the potentiometer connector? if give me a cue i thankful.
-
@gusva Did you calibrate multiple times. It took me three or four tries to get my buddys Cougar calibrated. Buttons mixed up in ccp sounds also like a short or neurtal wire issue.
-
@Icarus i will replace my sensor hal to pot again to try isolate the problem, perhaps is the short or neutral issue. i return here with a reply soon.
-
@gusva Sometimes a wire gets pinched when you put it back together
-
@Icarus Exactly what you said happened, it was a short circuit when closing the Stick. I changed the wire from button 5 to a new one, and did a test by placing the open sitck on the base. The problem was gone. So it was the insulation of the contacts that shorted out when closing the stick, I isolated all the contacts again and the problem was solved,
