Campaign

Hi there gents,
Im doing some custom campaign tests and i have some questions.
I have some CH-47 or UH-1 squadrons and also C-130. It seems that or the airlift and stuf in game is made by the helicopter sq and the C-130 can only be fragged by humans. I there anyway around this?
I mean i have a airborne battalion that has to get from point A to point B. When i have ch-47 or Uh-1 they do the airmobile, c-130 are nowhere to be found unless i frag them. Deleting the heli squadrons again C-130 only if i frag them… and i have c-130 sq. as HQ controlled and not human controlled.
Any idea will be welcome!Cheers and thanks in advance!

I have same issue in my campaign, HQ always frag airlift mission with helicopter.

[Edited] Did you tweaked the campaign .pri files ?

Hmmm… @Bad - I don’t think that it has any relation to .tri file(s) , those only control campaign “direction”.
But, when checked squadron/flight in database , C-130H had none flags defined for “Airforce” , “Night” and “All weather” - those can have impact on ai brain “tool” (plane) selection for mission
Also mission percentage and default role have to be reasonably set. … - Note, You see that “Main Role” is set to “TAC” , that is actually - Airborne mission, - so that could be the culprit for No Transport by default
I’ve redone all now from picture . that should suffice , now all is in try phase… we’ll see.
BUT! , we’re talking about database edit - so … I guess ya’ll understand what that means.
Cheers

Sorry i made a typo, i’m speaking about the .pri files and not about the .tri files (corrected in my post)
If you set in “Objective type priorities” section of the .pri files :
1 0 ; TYPE_AIRBASE 2 0 ; TYPE_AIRSTRIP
Then airlift mission are not fragged at all by ATO

Yes you spotted an issue here, good catch. I’ll fix it for (maybe) next release or the next one.

Role Score values are correct for C-130H, no issue here

Ok i spotted missing Flight/Squadron Flags for AN-124, AN-72, J-8I, C-130H, Av-8B and AV-8B+, Tu-22M, U-2, MV-22, OV-10D and OV-10A and missing Flight/Squadron Main Role for OV-10D.
Check fix next release (or the next one)

TAC is set as “Main Role” (with is AFAIK not used by the code).

“AirForce” flag is used to restrict a given mission to (defined to require this flag set to “on” for an a/c to be chosen for that kind of task).
None of the mission types is requiring this flag to be activated. so you can set it if you like, it won’t change anything.
Same to “Night” and “All Weather” flag. -

Tested on Dev version and on 4.34.2 … C-130 are tasked on Airlift missions by ATO.
Any idea will be welcome!
Please provide more info … what campaign, theater, tactical situation (could be no mission because of threat, airbase status?).

DeeJay is probably true on this one . Airlift missions are created with all of the assets (including Herc) I’ve put in my custom campaign, based on Balkans … that is, by ATO , not by me.
As for the flags … “Airforce” etc … yeah, little bird told me that only “VTOL” , “Navy” and “Stealth” are relevant by the code … but, I’m not sure about “Night” and “All weather” , can’t find any reference, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any, still.
So, yeah, Please give Him more data for analysis , what he said , theater , campaign …
Thanks DeeJay
Cheers

Those are not code related but mission.dat … they are just filters … “and”/“or” flag to have filter flag.
For example:
Stealth Strike mission are distributed only (or in priority) to a/c with the Stealth Flag Set.
Night, only if some mission are disigned to by flown by night only (it is not the case ATM)
… etc … those flags can be cumulative.Airforce flag : currently not used since there is no mission type that are distributed exclusively to Airforce a/c. So to say, this flag can be set or not for a/c, it won’t change anything.
Not the case for “Navy” or “Army” For example … IIRC, Recon Partol are mission dedicated to Amry Chopper only. So mission request type a/c to be set Army and VTOL.
IMO, don’t play with things unknown. Or at least, do not advise ppl do mess something you do not master. This is the best way to to a real mess in the things and break a lot of stuff.

Thanks Dee-jay.
Theater was EMF, Campaign something i making for personal use for now. Was probably something wrong with the files mentioned above or with the theater it self (still i think even though is a great project needs a lot of stuff to be fixed). In Mission.dat was vtol for airlift. I got some files from a friend tweaked and c-130s start to get fragged normally. So for now all good! -

Another question is about reinforcements and how those can be deployed? I know for example in KTO default campaign there are some… how thats possible to be used?

Reinf : 48 means activate after 48 hours

I know that those are flags/ whatyacallem “flters” and where they are used , “they are in the code” was a shortcut for being specific-> mission.dat - but why touch something where error isn’t…
So “relevant by the code” means -> just that , relevant , what have impact, what’s in use - you’ve stick to the word code too much - everything is CODE . mission.dat itself without code to run it would have exactly zero value , correct?
And I’ve already edited them in mission.dat year or so, adding escorts and sead and jamming to a missions which didn’t have them by default design , and I had to do it the hard way by summing hex flags manually as we don’t have the tool available which will convert mission.csv to hex summ in mission.dat … so I needed the little bird to tell me the weight of flags, and types of target waypoints, type of mission. …etc… the whole mission.dat structure. - as there’s no manual out there… is it?
Maybe you can be help? … One of the projects was JAM mission … how to do it in more relaxed style, not just simple timed loop between the two … I’ve tried some “stupid” things , merge with SWEEP/JAM , so I would get one waypoint more with ENROUTE and ACTION … , but then loop goes haywire as it reverts to previous and all kind of sh** happens…
I want JAM with 4 waypoints in ENROUTE and ACTION… but no MC hack way , but regular with BMS logic- and I want JAM action drive-through - not looped , but also to create a loop when and where I want - so the secret is in the “Target” flag of a steerpoint - that would need some love
But that you’ll probably have to fix in the code
