Strela-1/10 (SA-9/13) extreme performance

And that was indeed a code problem, it was yet another hack from the very old days that affected IR SAMs only.
I need to test more if that hack was warranted by something but it does not look like it so far.
Is this the reason heaters weren’t going ballistic after being spoofed by flares? We seen many times the heater might turn through in excess of 90-120 degrees seemingly trying to re-acquire until they run out of energy.

Yes that too. That should only affect IR SAMs though, not AAMs.

If have the time and opportunity, taking a look at AAM might prove fruitful.

be careful, the hack could be made so that the IR can be launch by soldier or vehicle that could not really turn to the target at launching….
if that would be the case, it must be desactivated after launch

That’s what I thought too, but AI SAM can launch even after the correction.
However what Malc is describing is more annoying, looks like relative geometry is not computed anymore when the flare has decoyed the missile, and that is a pain to track down.

no more target, no more computing

Actually there is a target But it’s not the same between the missile object and the seeker, because reasons
Anyway that will be for tomorrow.

Here’s an illutstration of what malc’s refer to:
This happened April 11th with 4.34.3 between malc and II shot Malc in the face with a AIM-9M, it tracked because before reaching malc it made a S to lead him. The missile was spoofed by a flare and lost track of Malc and went for the flare.
Once past the flare, it turned 90° LEFT with absolutely nothing for the missile to track into that direction.
What we would like to understand is why that 90° of a turn once past all the juicy targetsHope that helps

Dont worry I already have the repro. Just a matter of finding the root cause.

I know
