Installing another language for Microsoft Speech Reconizer for use with VAC.
-
Hi guys!
A small problem with my “new” install of Win8.1.
On Windows8.1, Speech Recognizer is by default on French and recognition doesn’t work fine by speaking in English (English commends) with a French recognition engine.
I can’t choose anything else than French and it is a PITA to use VAC with this.
Found this on Microsoft Support:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/setting-speech-options#1TC=windows-7
_Language:
Lists available Speech Recognition engines. Select the engine you want._
Speech Recognition is available only in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
…
But cant figure out how to change it or where to download the English Package!
Any idea?

Not interesting any more - read next post.
atleast on windows 7, in order to be able to change the language, ultimate version is required.
Then the main language has to be changed, afterwards it should be possible to use one language for voice recognition and one for the whole os.
but i can’t prove it as i own home prem. i read many threads regarding this question because my os is german but i wanted to give english comands. in the end i had to make a dictionary with only a few words and it worked pretty well with macros.(if you’r interested i have the macros for all the f4 radio commands)
Now in front of my computer, this is the link to the zip: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40940714/Speech%20Macros.zip
In order to use it, put it into your %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Speech macro
Right click each macro and sign it with your certificate in order to use it (depends on your wsrmacro security level)By the way, testing the macros with something like notepad doesn’t work well because it always uses the dictation mod.
But ingame it really makes fun and is immersive (especially if you don’t have a hotas and Track IR, and need your hands already for the rest) -
I had a small discussion with an ArmA III user and provided him these links:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/02/21/using-the-language-you-want.aspx
http://superuser.com/questions/475926/windows-8-speech-recognition-language… however he chose to stay on ‘german’ speech recognition because he used just a few English commands in phonetic german writing in a german commandlist
and everything on the web is unclear about how to change the SR language in Windows 8.1
(He did not want to take a risk of loosing his working system.)I definitely recommend setting up a restore point before going ahead

how about this solution here:
you have seen it. Is it for win 8.0 only?
