      Hi,

as the “Joystick & Input Devices” subforum has been created after the main forum has gone public, most joystick related threads are still out in other subforums, e.g. the “Technical Support” forum. If you encounter a thread in other forums which should better be here, please let us know.

Furthermore, if you miss some categories for special input devices, just let us know as well. Just use this very thread for centralized feedback.

          Great idea.

Threads to be moved report here?

Perhaps the TrackIR forum could include other head tracking devices.

May I suggest two other generic forums for “Touchscreens” and “Voice control”.

Also, there’s some article(s?) about programming your stick using DX. These supportive documents might be handy in the main joystick section, or at least a link to them.

              Hi,

wouldn’t this also be the right place for keystrokes etc.?

              Regards

                    Hi TomMallinson

If you want to program using the SST Program then here is a link to the SAITEK Manual

                    http://www.saitek.com/manuals/SST_Manual_En.pdf

And or if you would like program your X52 using DirectX (DX) then use the BMS Key File Manual pdf located in the BMS install folder see path below

C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input lots of useful info in this folder, lots of reading though good luck!

What you could also do once you have had read of the above maybe DL someones profile and have a look at how they have done it as this may get you going in the right direction.

                    Good Luck!

Fifteen minutes after writing this post, I found the programming file for Saitek X-52 in Key Files and Inputs!

i hope you like it because it took me a while, here are a couple of keybinding profiles to use it with Xbox (360, one, S or X Series) controller, it also should work PS controls or generic ones you may need to change the asigated positions in order to fit better to other controls, THE D-PAD MAPPING IS FIXED AND NOW WORKS WITH ALL THE VERSIONS OF BMS it works with xppader (included), there is no need of pedals to control de rudder or ir headset to control the view, it is all mapped, this are for peopel who know perfectly how to use all the switches in the cockpit.

both are basicaly the same, the diference is one have external views the other not

                        Linnk reuploaded and working.

I’ve tried for two days to program my X52. I finally figured out that when I program it using the Logitech software then Falcon does not recognize the alt, shift or control key commands programed. It is driving me crazy. Can’t figure out if the software program is bad or my joystick.

The x52 works great in programs were I can setup the joystick inside the program like DCS or IL2.

What are the R&D plans to support beyond a 32-button limit per USB device?

                              Thanks in advance.

I suppose none. If you want to overcome the 32 button Limit per USB device I suggest to go split to multiple virtual devices with JoystickGremlin and vJoy route

Roger…been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Too buggy when making changes. Unfortunately for me, at this time, I’m off BMS until we get native support for above 32 buttons. Thanks for your reply.

Isn’t that a Windows Direct X limitation? Set one button as a Shift and you can almost double the amount of assignments on your gear. My issue with that is remembering what everything does…

No the newer implementations of Directnput API supports up to8 axis and 128 DX buttons per device.

But where is Gremlin vjoy setup buggy. I personal have a X65F which is a single device with 50 buttons.
Only splitted it up once into 2 virtual devices with 20 and 30 buttons. That a step that only has to be done once and never had to change it afterwards.
From there on used the usual BMS ways to assign the callbacks to my new virtual devices. Can be done with all available ways in BMS Setup UI, Key file Editor, manual key file editing or Alernative Launcher.
The only extra step I have to do is start up Gremlin with BMS and that’s a no brainer as I use a shell script to start everything I need with around BMS (Gremlin,Helios,WDP,VoiceAttack,Opentrack,DuettDisplay) with a single shortcut

Good to know, thx Oak! Which DX version started that? Wonder if there is a hack to get the OFF state of the switch positions on the Warthog throttle to give a DX press? Not really necessary for BMS as it has the “DX Release” function but for “other” sims would make stick programming a lot easier… Modding a DCS LUA for my throttle now and intuitive it is not…

Edit: On another thread I stumbled on a TARGET script that sets the Warthog Throttle up using 120 DX buttons plus 8 DX buttons for the POV Hats. Just tried it in DCS and it works perfectly! In BMS (Alternative Launcher and 2D Controller Setup) the buttons/switches above DX32 don’t seem to register, have to hash that out but I simply shut Target down before starting and BMS sees the throttle as it was and it works fine for now…

This is what I’ve read, too. It can be done using various methods (e.g., lua, etc.).

This is true for basic setups, and it worked for my X65F, too; however, if you buy a USB simulation device, such as the various Viper panels coming out, each must be split into 2-3 vjoy devices. This rapidly resulted in more complex configurations. And if you buy them one at a time to fit within a budget, Joystick Gremlin threw exceptions when modifying them after a certain point, at least for me.

The “shifting” capability is outstanding in BMS…but it doesn’t fix the example configuration above. Having integral support by the simulation, since there are solutions available, would avoid all the third-party software pain, IMHO.

Thanks for your time and effort, Icer and Oakdesign!

Thanks for your time and effort, Icer and Oakdesign!

I’m not familiar with an X65 but if it has 2-3 position on/off toggles it’s easy to get BMS to see the released state (No DX signal) which (in the case of the Warthog Throttle) gives me full use of every position of every switch/toggle. Unfortunately DCS has no such (easy to set) capability so the Target script making every position send a DX press works great (in DCS). NG in BMS though, at least for the next 2-3 weeks. 😉

EDIT: Just checked and the added DX buttons work perfectly in IL2 BoX too!
