FPS SIM REN?

I’m seeing some stutter with 4.35 also. Tried all nvidia settings and game settings can’t fix it. All other games running perfectly on my gaming PC, and I have a lot of them. Hopefully it will be fixed in update…
maybe trying lowering grass and density might help. works for me atleast

slight stutter or jolt when close to the ground , also when vsync is enabled a still get a weird tearing type thing on the screen, now i know that its 99% my hardware or my lack of knowledge when it comes to anything cpu related.
…how do i read the current FPS, SIM, REN details to see where a bottleneck may be . Currently with the settings i am trying my fps is 60 my refresh of screen vsync…sim is 70-80 day one first flight kto CAMPAIGN …render is 70- 110 not really sure what im looking at?I just wrote a long update to a different thread about triple-buffering … TL/DR tho, on my newer PC which is not so CPU constrained, it really helped eliminate the microstutter/flicker I was seeing.
Ymmv of course but if your CPU and GPU are both doing better than 60fps, give triple-buffering a try. (Turn off v-sync, in game and in graphics control panel. The TB should prevent tearing.)

Since
1st line - Total FPS
2nd line - Simulation FPS - In large you may think of it as your CPU FPS
3rd line - Renderer FPS - GPU FPSWhat does it mean if line 2 and 3 are considerably higher than line one. Line 2 is usually highest number?

@Icarus this is something I am working on. Trying to understand better those values.
Sim and Ren lines dont show everything happening there. For instance, waits are not included.
Ideally, we want to know who is waiting for who and current code does not give this information.
Btw, renderer thread also has cpu limitations, so while a slow GPU can increase ren time, its possible to have slow ren time for cpu reasons as well.
-
Some more context: sim is fhe thread that does sim logic and prepares objects for drawing. Renderer is the thread that draws it. While sim is preparing next frame, renderer is drawing previous one.
-
Thanks for the reply. So if my sim and ren numbers are similar that means no bottleneck? fps is nearly half the sim and render readings. say 120 vs 240 240 ish
-
@Icarus as Seifer mentioned, waits aren’t included in Sim and Ren … they’re more like “potential fps”. settings like v-sync and triple-buffering make a huge qualitative difference to the overall top-line number.
my guess: sounds like your monitor is 120hz, and you either have v-sync enabled, or do not have triple-buffering enabled.
[edit: I think I misspoke … the cpu loop will spin unbounded, without v-sync, even without triple-buffering enabled]

@airtex2019 I have 60hz monitor with both vsync and triple buffering disabled. Sounds like I have a lot of waits then. Maybe monitor is bottleneck.
-
@Icarus is it always exactly (or nearly exactly) 120? interesting… an fps limiter would have that effect as well. maybe some drivers do a fps limit of 2x monitor hz by default? idk!

@airtex2019 fps is usually half of sim and rem but not always. sometimes it is less but always lower. I have two monitors but BMS is only on one. I dont have a double screen setup for sim.
