EZBoards - Generate kneeboards (flights, comms, stpts, weather) from briefings
-
Logic, I’m a fan of this software, especially for how quickly and easily it gets the job done. Thank you for this contribution. The http server is also a brilliant addition and makes my iPad essential again now that touchscreen ICPs have lost their novelty. I have a serious suggestion though, and it’s a pretty big ask: what about making the output configurable? I think your tool would be totally unique and more widely used if it were possible, perhaps via switching to an editable XML or HTML template, to change the data fields and their arrangement. Formatting could still be done in CSS. This would allow squadrons / flight leads to produce kneeboard cards with their preferred info on them, as is done in real life. Maybe in the long run it could even run user-customized local JavaScript to generate custom weapon delivery data, etc.
I hope you agree these would be killer features that would enhance capability without complicating the average user’s experience. Thanks again for your work on this tool, it instantly became my favorite way to reference flight data for MP without the WDP dance.

I created a shortcut for EZWATCH.bat and ran it. In BMS 2D i saved the DTC, clicked on Print in the Briefing (not HTML). Why do I get this error message?

Norton Anti Virus software was blocking EZWatch. Here’s Norton’s report:
I excluded EZWatch from Norton and EZWatch ran successfully.

Very tidy app. I like the extracted css file, allowing custom formats/colors, and how we can change the path for different theaters. I’ll make a separate bat file for each theater that i use! Great work @Logic

My first impression: Wow this is impressive! Thank you so much I hated how much time I had to spend putting together plans. I wanted to focus on the actual planning not filling out data cards by hand.

V8 Released.
- For compatibility with BMS 4.36.
This not only fixes the registry key but also a nasty incompatible briefing format change.
No more compatible with BMS 4.35! Use V7 instead if you use older version of BMS. - Supports more 3rd party theaters out of the box.
Download link is on the top of page in top post!

Is it possible that the AI comms orders put in the Kneeboards? and not floating in the air somewhere in the nothing ?
It would be more realistic if those pages and lines would be place on the kneeboard. -
@repvez That is a feature of the core of BMS and is completely out of scope of what EZBoards is able to achieve. Also I 'm not even sure anybody would want that. The comms menus are an active interaction with the sim, not like the kneeboards that are merely a passive sheet of text.
Anyway, it is completely off topic here. You would have to suggest this in another forum section. -
V9 Released.
- Also updated the reg path in EZWATCH to BMS 4.36. Sorry for the inconvenience.

My EZBoards file location does not have the file xbrief.dll. It has xbrief.exe. I get this error.
-
@Logic Then I noticed that EZBoards for BMS v4.35 had a xbrief.dll. I copied that file to the 4.36 directory. Hopefully the dll did not change from 4.35 to 4.36. But then I get this error message.
-
@jc1 Just a hunch, but you might want to try placing Ezboards on a path with no blanks, or just temporarily rename the folder to C:\EZBoards436\

Gave your hunch a try but it didn’t work.

That’s strange. I see xbrief.dll (and exe) in the v9 zip package.
Can you try DL and unzip it again? -
Thinking about it, it might be that your local anti-virus doesn’t like exes when unzipping and silently ignores or quarantines them. Check that.

You are absolutely right. I turned off my anti-virus, DL, unzipped again and got the xbrief.dll. Ran EZBoards with “Success”.
-
@jc1 bout that , since your AntiVirus is acting… ou may want to add Ezboards folder to the exclusion zone in whatever antivirus you’re using or else it will happen again.
My Kaspersky says xbrief.dll is totally legit , so no problem with infection or something.
Only problem was windows firewall and “onehttpd-0.8” - even I put it on allow-incoming list … strange?.. but I killed “the bastard - win fw” and now I can access files in whole folder , not just briefing.html … that way I can open whole directory in browser on tablet and quick check any document in that folder … ils - list , pdf , …any document for quick reference , neat ha ?
I even disabled EzEwatch and created symilink to the BMS/user/config/Briefings folder inside Ezboards folder , so now I can save a html briefing and is still accessible in tablet browser…
Just need to target port only , not the file “:8080/briefing.htmtl”
Cheers

Trying to use this I get a “System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key “Package Elements:” x = Primary Flight, was not present in this dictionary”.
Any ideas ?
-
@MnMailman Hi. Are you using the latest version (v9) ?
I think there was a bug around this with 4.36 but it should be fixed.
If not, please send me the briefing.txt file. -
@Logic Hi Logic. Yes, just downloaded it from the original post link. I did edit the involved flight with Mission Commander.
Let me try another flight and see if that matters.
