Somalia for BMS 4.35 U1
-
@Chuckles, Installed 435U1 and hotfix file but still Strait crashes and this time on Day 2 6:19:06z…it is a pity because Somalia in the new version is such a nice theater!! anything you can you to fix that will be much appreciated
This is a tough one. We’ll have to look at it after we get Vietnam finished.

Had a hard lockup here, froze during time to launch.
Ctrl,alt,delete didnt even help .
Had to do a hard shutdown and restart puter .
Tried 3 times,same thing.
Of course no logs too.
Deleted somalia for now.
Just saying, know your aware.
Might try kuwait next. -

-
I might just do that.
Havent been flying much lately , health problems.
Only twice last month.
But probably get it installed and ready anyway.
Thanks for the heads up. -
take care, there, oldtommyboy!!

Well i installed somalia ,started a campaign, flew just one mission and all good so far.
A few kinks noted but might have just been the start of the campaign.
Thx -
Love the theater! Question tho, Im trying to follow the theater manual about “uncheck the AWACS Required block” in order to simulate GCI. I can’t find that option anywhere. Was it removed in the U2 or am I just not seeing it?

Yes, I think it might have been. The reason we suggest unchecking the requirement is because the classic Ogdan War scenario does not contain AWACS Aircraft.
-
I guess I will have to use my own awareness then! Cool theater, thanks for the great work you’ve done and the fast reply.
-
Well, i got 3 flights in now,all good.
Gotta say, ive never had a problem landing but now, damn that runways short.
I watch ai touchdown a third of the runway and still stop in plenty of time. I know others have said about braking and associated things involved with it.
I have to touchdown now at the threshold to stop in time.
Anyhoo,its all good.
Thanks
Hmmm, maybe throw the parking brake on, yee haa !!! -
Reasonable choice, that.
You would even get a chance more to move that thing from the parking area, you know.
More seriously: very glad to learn you are enjoying this theater.
All its devs. spent so much time, and efforts, in making it, after all. With best regards.

Ok,whose the CO of the defense battalion,i want to beat him to a pulp !
Ha ha.
Started a new campaign,1st one,took a strike mission, success,headed home,cleared in on final.
Speed 165,full flare, breakes extended, touchdown, next thing i know, defense battalion crosses the runway ,are they blind !!
So yes,no time except die, then i get courtmarshalled to add insult to injury .
Bwa ha ha
Mission a sucess,of couse i got horrible rating even though my bombs were on target.
Now where,s that CO !!! -
Really?
Are you sure were you playing a Falcon campaign and not from that other concurrent sim perhaps?
Ah, me too have experienced, at my own expenses of course, that all is possible in campaigns - and I mean in all senses.
However… “Don’t ask if you don’t want to hear the answer”, you know - our Israeli mates use to express this concept in a more effective way, though.
Do the worst you can, we don’t expect less from you.
Good luck and with best regards.
-
Ha ha,no i dont fly the other sim.
Only bms ,ha ha
Im pretty good at being the worst, !!!8-) -
Well so far so good except the debriefing is all f,d up.
Not even close to being right.
I get alot of mission failure because its not recording my
Kills or destroyed, even though if i look at my flight,it shows the kills, etc correctly, usually anyway.
So i think all these failed missions will affect the outcome of the campaign, right ?
But i am enjoying the flights.thx -

But i am enjoying the flights.thxActually, what the briefing says really doesn’t affect the outcome of the campaign. What affects the outcome of the campaign is what you kill on the ground and the air. These kills will allow your ground units to take objectives and advance to your goal. If you want see how well you are doing, go to the Intel screen and play the JSTAR animation. The more the Blue Units, assuming you are flying for NATO, advance across the the map, the closer the campaign is to ultimate victory.
-
Not the briefing, the debriefing after the flight .
It says mission failed but in my dropdown,it shows my kills or destroyed as good, even the whole package.
I move the ground units myself but HQ on for missions for now.its still day one.
Im wondering if its because of all the flights,it is one busy airport.
Anyhoo,having fun anyway -
One to keep in mind is that the Somalia is much different than default Kore and Israel. Those campaigns are set up like Desert Storm One or World War Two. They are linear and disciplined in their movement to their strategic goal. The way I set up my ground teams in Somalia, I wanted the campaign a little disorganized with a bit of a zigzag pattern troop movements. This is done by design. Since a real life third world campaign would involve lots of local population cooperation along with few airbases. Nothing is what it seems. Also victory isn’t by conventional means but entirely by what is going on the ground.

The debrief only knows that u were given a certain task or target and failed that task or didnt hit that target.
EX: Other day was on an sead mission against a known sa6 battt but on the way i spotted an sa11 just beside it.
This is the beuty of the dynamic campaign in that the sa11 had prolly just spawned in but anyhow the sa11 now becomes the priority target and i ordered my wingies to take it out and hammered it but never got the desgnated target which was the sa6.
Irl the dudes would do the same thing but when i seen the debrief i was given a HORRIBLE rating lol.
This is because the code cant see that u made a better decision by taking out the sa11.
It only knows that u didnt hit your intented target…
You can fail evey single mission in any campaign in any version of F4 and still win.
Thats why most peeps dont worry about the rating so much.
-
Yep,i know what your saying,in the cases im talking about,i did destroy the assigned target and still got failed even though dropdown showed sucess on the targets .
Yeah, not a game changer for me.
Just mentioned it for shits and giggles.
Like that short runway,i can stop in time but have to jam on
Brakes immediately,ha ha.
Always something, guess thats why i still fly it.
Love this thing !!!
