Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated to 4.36-04
Updated 22 July 2022:
The first post has been updated with the latest version.
Please note the requirement for BMS Falcon 4.36 U1 and Helios Version 1.6.5305.2 or later.
Added the BMS Falcon 4.36 U1 updated charts.
Updated the Radio Comms menu with the BMS Falcon 4.36 U1 changes.
This also adds an additional profile which uses RTT MFDs for both the Centre Console and the Zoomed Console. This is still somewhat experimental and full setup instructions are provided in a separate Setup Guide. If you aren’t experiencing lagging MFDs with the standard profile then I wouldn’t recommend using this since there wouldn’t be any advantage. -
@linknet Great job! Thank you.

@linknet, thank you for making the update. Unfortunately I have been unable to download it via mediafire. I’m wondering if anyone else is having issues?
I can get to the initial mediafire page ok but when clicking on the Download button I get a “Site can’t be reached” error. I submitted an issue to mediafire yesterday but nothing has come of it yet. I will continue to wait for a response from mediafire but I am curious if there is something else that could be done?
Thanks!

@linknet, you can disregard my last post. I figured out that it is a problem with the DNS Filtering I am using that for some reason blocks the specific server serving up your .zip file. I was able to get the file downloaded.

Hello Ice
Thank you for the update. Great thing. Since I’m new to using Helios, I have a concern.
Since I, like many others, use the German keyboard layout, my question:
Is it possible to convert the key file from Us to German or is this firmly anchored in your profile?
The problem is that other non-Helios programs open with key combinations, making flying with BMS actually impossible. It just doesn’t work online at all.
I hope you can give me a tip on how to change that, or do you already have something in the works?greeting

I know that other users with a German keyboard are running it without any problems after implementing the fix in the “Non-US Keyboard Guide” found in the download. So have you implemented that fix? With that fix Helios will use the US Keyboard for sending QWERTY keystrokes even though your default keyboard will still have the German layout.
-
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I assume you mean the PDF in the non-us keyboard guide. I don’t have a fix in the folder.
If I follow the instructions, I have the problem that the keyboard layout switches from US to German with the key compi’s CTRL+Shift or CTRL+Alt.
I’ll have to see if I can do that somehow. It’s probably my Windows.
Thank you again for your help.
greeting

After applying that fix your German keyboard should remain as the keyboard that you use at all times. The US keyboard only ever gets referred to by Helios to extract the correct QWERTY keys. It never gets selected for use by the user. The keyboards shouldn’t be switching. Is the keyboard selector (language bar) running? If so you need to disable it. -
Hi Linknet, I’m using 1.36-04 and the newest Helios and I have a see through DED and both MFDs displaying enlarged HUD image. I tried to included a photo here but so far not successful. And taking into account of the frequent updates of Helios I’ll keep testing.

@jacqueslees Latest Helios version 1.6.5306.4 has a fix in it to resolve some issues with switching planes without stopping and starting BMS nor Helios. I tested this and worked as designed. If its still occurring for you just go back to 1.6.5305 version and you should be ok as that was the only change for Falcon in 1.6.5306.4
-
@Todd1215 Yes and here is the thing, I’m using already 5306.4 and I don’t know for sure that it means this version already had the fix or I need to run a fix specifically for this version? Thx for the quick response !!
-
@jacqueslees The fix was for a bug in prior releases of Helios where switching planes without restarting BMS or Helios profile resulted in an incorrect representation of what the extraction area in shared memory is for each BMS window extraction ie: MFDs DED, PFL, etc …
That’s the fix that is in Helios 1.6.5306.4. If you have a see through DED and MFDs is pretty odd. The only Helios Falcon texture extraction that has that capability is the HUD and is off by default. The default Linknet Ice profile doesn’t have a HUD texture anywhere. Did you add it yourself?
If you can please open an issue in the Helios GitHub page or if you can’t do that then use imgur and add a screenshot and share the link to it I’d like to see what your screen looks like so I can get a better understanding of what is going on. Also if you upgraded (which shouldn’t be an issue) maybe try uninstall Helios and reinstall the latest version.

There u go, as I refresh a little bit it always happens on the ILS approach after charts and comm switches and calls.
-
@jacqueslees ok thanks for that. I am going to test this scenario and get back to you. I think I know what the issue is and if I am right you will have to go back to the previous Helios version 1.6.5305.3
Helios 1.6.5305.3 -
@Todd1215 I was able to verify your use case and will open a bug for Helios. Oddly I hit this bug with the ILS training missing but not the Navigation Training mission.
You can revert back to previous version for now or if you wish to stay on this version just switch to using RTT instead.
I will continue to test and figure out what and why this is happening.

@Todd1215 Thank you very much Todd! I was teaching my son to play around with the jet a bit so we were in the first Ground Ops scenario, I put him on the runway and he took off and used the autopilot to STPT 5 then halfway turned to 7 and proceeded to land, we could see the problem almost always on final, after comm calls.
