Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37
-
@Bikeman There isn’t a Pathnames.ini file in version 4.37-01, try completely deleting the C:\Bin folder and using the latest one.

@Atlas How do you do that please? I cannot change it in the keymapper screen. Thanks
How do I do what? Or was that question for @linknet ??

Good question. You’d have to work through every section of the Falcon interface in the Profile Editor to create a list. Simple way is to enter 3D, select Freeze and the 2D View, and then operate any control that you’re concerned about. Then check If the corresponding control in the profile operates.
Thanks!

@linknet Hi. What I recall it was conserning the process tab. Data auto update. Helios Control Center throwed some error that the file does not exist in bin although it was there. I deleted the commands “%BMSFalconPath%” “%HeliosPath%” and it worked. Maybe I messed up something. I dont know.
In the guide i would also add a sentence to tell newbies how to exactly point to the new keyfile in falcon bms. Something like open bms, go to settings, click controllers, click load, select desired key file. Preferably with screenshots. I did not know that and I had to fiddle with the user controls a bit to find out. I think this is very importat as you can do all the settings right in helios but it wont work without pointing to the new keyfile.
Also strange thing I have to point exachtly to your keyfile calle Ice, cause if I rename ice keyfile to full and point to it in bms it just doesnt work. Maybe because in helios I have to also point to the new full key file. But when I did that helios started screaming that there are missing callbacks. Strange…

I followed your instructions. The data are updated in the CPD/PLAN screen, the auto-updater kneepads unfortunately not. Any other steps I have to take besides PRINT in the briefing screen?

@linknet It is in process control - it throws Argument error cause in the process control the file is named DataAutoUpdate.exe, but in C:\Bin\ the file is actually called CPDAutoUpdate.exe I had to correct the name in helios process control. Then the process controll was green

I have no idea what you are doing, there is no DataAutoUpdate.exe file or any instance of it in any of the 4.37-01 profiles.

@linknet The Briefing.txt gets updated correctly. The Pilot Roster etc are not displayed correctly when I press the DED. They show the data of some other TE. Hope this helps in troubleshooting. Auto_Left.png and Auto_Right.png do not get updated.

From what I can see you’ve got parts of 4.35-06 hanging around which are now totally incompatible with 4.37-01. Unless you completely reinstall the profile I don’t believe I can help. Delete the Bin Folder and the Profile files completely and start again. I’ve tested 4.37-01 several times from a clean install and it works perfectly.

@linknet Wildo. Btw: thank you for the superb things you do with Helios. I couldn’t fly the Falcon without.
-
@linknet No problem, I keep investigating further. I erased BIN und Helios folders and installed new. The control center gives me a binding error when I push the Restore Kneepads and Update Kneepads buttons. As I said, no need for you to spend time, I keep investigating and let you know what I find.
I noticed that the profile is set to BMS 4.36. I changed it to 4.37.

Can i use this to extract certain gauges and indicators only? I don’t have a touch screen and only want it for desktop pit.

It works fine with a mouse so you don’t need a touch screen although it’s preferable. If you only want certain components then you can try editing the profile and removing items you don’t want but it would be easier to create your own basic profile.

@linknet thank you!

You should have said, however in that case the Bin folder should look like this with a DataAutoUpdate file;
Perhaps yours is missing? The CPDAutoUpdate is for the CPD Only profile and wont work with the full profile.

@BVT_9 Try EZBoards - it replaces the 7982.dds file so that you can view the briefing on the cockpit kneeboards.
I could possibly look into having the profile do that, it already generates the briefing kneeboards so would just need to convert to dds.
@linknet both EZBoards and the now 4.37 profile show the briefings perfectly in the 3D pit, but for me, not in the profile. Maybe because I changed the “Falcon BMS Images” folder name to “Falcon BMS”?
-
@BVT_9 Not maybe but definitely! The profile looks in “Falcon BMS Images” for the Kneeboard images.

@linknet Thx! That worked! *kinda feel stupid
