      @Zetsubou:

I installed this theater for the first time now with the latest BMS 4.35 U2 update and it’s crashing all the time for me in 2D mode. I even did a complete reinstall of the sim but no change. This does not happen in Korea, Balkans, Libya and Israel so there’s something not working as intended in this theater. Just wanted to let you know.

There are two known (bug) opportunities to ctd BOTH are while in the cursed third campaign “eyes of the serpent” the US wasp and av8s… are linked to a Chinese chopper carrier (glitch) don’t fly av8s off of the wasp in campaign3. Also If you fly any other planes in cam3, it always ctd when you hit the "back " button to exit the campaign. save before.
The first two campaigns don’t have this problem.

Thanks for pointing it though , I thought av8s and carrier had been straightened out and only ctd on exit was left.

I did not attempt to fly av8s. I just started a new campaign (it was indeed the 3rd one) and immediately got a crash when looking at my F-16 in the weapons view. The next try it crashed when I pressed the back button.
I reinstalled everything and the back-button crash in campaign 3 still happens. The weapons view crash did not reappear so far though and campaigns 1 and 2 actually seem to be stable. One thing I noticed in campaign 1 though is that any squadrons at Kao-Hsiung Intl. did not frag any flights, not even after fast forwarding for a couple hours. Is this intended?

          Hi! Zetsubou.

Unfortunately those squadrons are too close to the PRC tanks fighting on SW invasion area. We moved lots of squadrons away from the front lines because of this. These guys just didn’t make it. Now Thanks to you , they will be able to help in combat from start. moved them to Kang Shan and they now frag. Will be in next update, but here is file to be put in “C:\Falcon BMS 4.35\Data\Add-On Taiwan\Campaign” as Update is a big project right now (more air units for ROC and PH, etc)

Glad I could make a difference on the war effort. 😄 😄
The back-button crash sounds really strange. Do you have a solution for that?

As it’s on WIP, bugs are there still. Just from ramp start in FCK1 and it jumped a few times bumping into the ground and exploding. Or tried on F16, first it did well just likes normal and taxied into runway and it submerged and then exploded again.

Yes! I think it is finally fixed! well…. This one has given us some issues so better test it out some more before I start hopping up and down about it.

Av8s should work and no ctd on exit so far.
Unseen potholes in rwy is being investigated. Definitely will be fixed and in next hotfix or release.

Wow thanks for those quick hotfixes!
I tested the campaign 3 fix now and I did not get a CTD anymore when pressing the back button. Also that Chinese Navy AWACS Helicopter is happily flying it’s circles like it should. I tried launching a mission in an AV8 and it worked without a problem.
So all seems to be fixed! :clap2:

There are only 2 minor things I found:
                    1. The astronomic position of the sun is correct for 9:00 UTC (Campaign start time) on 15.04.2004 (Default Campaign Start Date in BMS) in Southern Taiwan. (Checked with Stellarium). 9:00 UTC translates to 17:00 in Taiwan (UTC +8 ). This is 2 hours before sunset. However the Local time in the campaign is displayed as 11:00 (UTC +2). This is not game breaking or anything but confusing.

                    2. All Taiwanese F-16s I tried always show a “PFL” Message in the PFL. It happens no matter if I do a Takeoff-, Taxi-, or manual Ramp-Start. I can’t erase it by pressing F-ACK or FLCS RESET. It did not happen in the USAF F-16s based at Yonaguni. I couldn’t find anything about a “PFL”-Message in the manual. So either this is a bug, the PFL is broken or something or -and that’s what I’m assuming- it’s just an odd specialty in Taiwanese F-16s, telling the pilot that the PFL System is working correctly or something?

Sir, coming out from the blue soon, sir! 😄
More news further. Promised. But after a deeper test only, as my usual, of course.
Oh, and I took good note of those notes by Zetsubou… thanks a lot, mate, BTW.
                      With best regards.

Update: I did it. More simple than I expected to, to be honest.
Yes. The fixes work. And, on my little own, I appreciated this campaign more than before.
A little note now: so seemingly we have some SAM battalions revealing themselves only when it is too late, huh?
Nice touch, dearest Ed. Poor those Hoovers (our good Uwe not involved here, of course :D).
                      That’s real class.

With best compliments again and regards.

                            In Taiwan-island
There are so many airport/air-strip with "same-ILS-channel"(111.1/111.2) too close to easily interfere each other.
                            Such as "Chiayi AFB" & "Chiayi-Strip" / "Hua-Lien AFB" & "Hua-Lien airport" / "CCK AFB" & "Taichung airport"…...
suggest the airport's ILS channel are set different within 20 nm.

“Penghu” “Pratas-island” are proper/OK in BMS.

Ma-Tsu-islands (both are hill-island..) , Pratas-island too small to be set as "AFB" / airport..(impossible)..
Ma-Tsu islands (both) , Pratas island are only with air-strip

The "Taichung Airport"(middle-west of Taiwan) in real is a small air-strip just for army chopper only such as "Lungtan Strip"...
The civil-flights (in the middle-west of Taiwan) are also using the Ching-Chun-Kang (CCK) AFB.

The "Makung AFB" (on Penghu-island ) in real is an very small and none-use air-strip now for army vehicle parking....
All flight (civil/mil) on Penghu-island are using "Husi AFB" only.......

                            5. Really need add AFB/ airport (at least) in Main China :
                            (1) Longtian : N:25°34’24.1 / E: 119°27’31.1
                            (2) Shuimen : N:26°56’43.5 / E: 120°04’05.9

Members from the 6THVFW have been doing test flights in the Taiwan Theater and discovered Hua-Lien Airbase in the 4TH FS appears to become disabled or literally disappears prior to landing recovery. I attempted to contact approach at the airbase less than 10 miles out and I was told I was still too far out and contact them at 30 miles out. Images above are what I saw during the recovery operation.

As a Taiwanese, i’m glad to see that there’s Taiwan theater in BMS too.
Glad to fly over my home country with good landscape.
Obviously i find the runway heading of most airports in BMS are incorrect if compared to the real world but fully understand if we take this theater from a gaming perspective & not being too serious on how real it simulates. Compared to KTO, with all the navaids and charts, there’s so much more to play around even if just flying SID / STAR without any combat content.
I wonder if there’s anyway to optimize the runway heading / setting up all the key navaids in Taiwan with charts etc if i could provide some info of all the runway / navaids / charts info
Just have no idea how to modify the theater but if the creator / developer of Taiwan theater is interested in this maybe i could help provide some important info.

@oneeast00, I believe that Basco Island is part of the territory of the Republic of the Philippines and not Taiwan.
