Will the KC-46 be incorporated into BMS?
-
Are there any plans to incorporate the KC-46 into BMS?
-
If someone makes it…
Why not… -
Airbus A330 MRTT needs to be part of the future BMS. ROKAF has four MRTTs on their inventory.
-
@shawn again… “needs” is strong word…
If we can’t make it ourselves, someone needs to help on that…But maybe you’ll be lucky…
@Manos1981 FYI

Will the KC-46 be incorporated into BMS?
This is a difficult question. The better question is, Will the KC-46 be incorporated into real life?
-
@Thaeris it is being flown right now with the USAF.
-
@shawn you mean this one?
-
Yes it is. Thank you.

@JUmpstart5179 The KC-46 is being flown, yes. But not quite operational…
https://www.airforcemag.com/weapons-platforms/kc-46/
Most notable problem: “The KC-46 completed developmental testing and entered operational testing in 2019, though planned IOC and full-rate production has slipped to FY24 or later due to remaining deficiencies with the boom and remote vision system.”

@matini said in Will the KC-46 be incorporated into BMS?:
I saved this picture and posted it on the FB interest group dedicated to boom operators. A lot of the members have gotten a kick out of it.

@SLangner
Was in the business for 31 years as Boomer…Was at a ‘Bomb Comp’ awards gathering back in the SAC days and watched a fight take place at the bar between a KC-135 and KC-10 boom operator when the end statement from the 135 guy said “The 135 will be refueling the 10 enroute when it goes to the Bone Yard”. …“Classic”!
