What is the best server provider ?

I’ve got a 4 or 5 human flight scheduled for Monday morning at 0800 EST. … your crew are most welcome to join us!
Just shoot me a PM here and ill send you the Teamspeak info where we meet upBig thank you to the invitation ! i think it’s possible i will propose to the team !
Our problem and the reason why we want made a dedicated, is because we all are in differents locations and none of us have good connexions.
i’m located in french Guiana (near Brasil) and my contry (and some north south american country) are connected by a sub marine cable. Our bandwidth is good, but the ping is really bad.

My friends are located in france, belgium etc…. and for some of them it’s the same problem. The other parameter is the time zone between us. For instance, if i my friend host a game at paris, and he want to disconnect (cause tired and sleep) before us located in french guiana, he can’t ! otherwise if he does all of us are disconnected…
This is why we want have a dedicated.
I’m now looking for the best price/quality provider.
Thank for reading. (and my poor english) -
Hi, first of all this is my first post, and I did not signed in at all just for this, but I did read “server” just after, and I could not avoid opening this
I suggest you to have a look at Soyoustart, they have (relatively) very cheap Intel Xeon E3-1225v2 and E3-1245v2 dedicated servers (they are like an i5 3670 -but with 8MB of L3 cache like the i7s-, and like an i7 3770 respectively, with their relatively powerful integrated GPU). They have Canada and France locations, and they are a low-to-mid end sub-brand from OVH (biggest European dedicated hosting provider).
The only chance for not having to pay A LOT of money for a dedicated GPU on a server (don’t try asking Soyoustart, they sell only what you can see on their website, and OVH GPU servers are very expensive Big Data compute units) is to purchase Colocation and send your own hardware. There’re a lot of companies that offer such service.
Last but not least, I am a total novice to this game (I haven’t even tried to install it yet lol, I’m on it), and (of course) to how this game works, so if you take my advice into account, triple check that they fit the purspose you want it to serve.
I just couldn’t avoid answering xD, good luck.

The onboard GPU is generally not available (bare metal) on Shared/VPS hosting as most implementations use virtualized video drivers.
For the most part these do not work with BMS out of the box, if at all.
There are some ways to trick BMS into running in windowed mode under these conditions, depending on the type of virtualization and hardware.
Dedicated slot would probably do the trick just that they are generally expensive ($100+ month), and would be overkill considering the scope.

Thank for your message. Yo all have right ! I already knew OVH hoster because i had an dedicated hosted at ovh paris. Has you already say, i don’t have any guarantee that if i take a dedicate, i could be able to run BMS. in that way, i have only one solution. Take one and try it ! I will test, and if i succeed, i will post here the kind of server and the way to do it !
No choice ! -
Hi Myoda.
I don’t think you are going to find what you are looking for at a economical cost, if at all.
Most of the Squads/Groups I know either have a member who has a good connection and a secondary box they use to host for their group.
What is a good connection ? Years ago one of our northern European members wanted to host quoting speeds in the decades of megabits up and down. It was a disaster ! While he had a fiber connection and great “local” speed test, for the rest of the group spread all over the world it was unreliable. The funny thing was that I was one of the guys who hosted successfully and that was with a 8.0 Mb down and 0.8 up. Even many of our North American members with better “Up/Down” were not as reliable.
For the past 3 or 4 years we have been privaliged to be host by a friend who runs a ISP in central US and those days of home servers are a thing of the past. These are dedicated boxers not virtual servers donated to and/or provided by our benefactor and more recently sent over to Him to keep up with the increasing demands of some of the add-on theaters we run.
My advice would be to find the most reliable member you have with a good connection and work through him.
We ran for many years on a Core2 duo @ 2.1 with 4 gig of ddr2 & a minimal GPU for up to 20+ clients.
Probably more then you wanted to know and less then you needed.
Regards ……Shad
PS: stretch out the page so you can see more of my sig. See how a local speed test degrades as it reaches around the globe. Bigger is not always better, but it helps.

My suggestion to you that address’s this issue… is just find someone in your group that’s willing to stay connected until the mission is completed. In my case, when I host, no matter what happens… (if I get killed… or get tired… or whatever…) I’ll just go to bed…leave the game open, and shut it down later

Hey Guys, I’m new to the server side of all of this. One question, what is required for myself and maybe another guy or two to fly a mission together? I have fairly fast Internet (cable) here in North Idaho. Can I give them my pc address? Is that a bad idea? I’m learning A LOT from reading the forums, so, thank you all who have posted and especially to those who have respectfully answered questions.

Rule of thumb:
Take 80% of your upload speed (check at www.speedtest.net). Divide that by 256 (connect bandwidth of client). Round down to the nearest whole number. That is the number of people you can host based on bandwidth.
For example, for my connection:
5.91 Mbps upload –> 5190 x 80% = 4152 / 256 = 16.21 --> 16 players at 256 connection bandwidth … 8 players if all connect at 512 bandwidth.
You do need to share the host/server IP address and have ports open for that IP address to pass Falcon and IVC data.

While I don’t know how much b/w is eaten by IVC functions, you can host the IVC server independently (preferably not on the same internet connection). If you have another player with a beefy upstream pipe then it might be a good idea to have him / her host the IVC server if you plan to host a game for many players.
Cheers, Uwe
