IAI Lavi
-
- I have some doubt about AIM-9P and 9M, I’m pretty sure 9L. In the late 80s, I think it’s all, no 9X, and previous version used by IDF/AF (G, H or J) were deprecated.
- I would have added Python 5 (same location as Python 4) in 2000+ context
- I also have doubt on AGM-88 witout HTS pod
Hello Topolo,
-
About AIM-9P, I just double checked, and youi are right, I can’t find a picture of an AIM-9P mounted on an IDF Lavi. I guess we could keep AIM-9L and M ?
-
For Python 5, on, I’m with you there !
-
IDF is very silent about it, but they operate AGM-88 (named as Kel’aa in Israel), on their F-16. As long as HTS is not exportable, they use it, as far as I know it, as any other export country :
What do you think ?
Cheers,
Radium

@Toot I heard that some people quoted that Lavi is the son of a Mirage 2000 with a F-16 !
-
I have never seen evidence of Harm been sold to Israel. Also afaik IAF does not operate SEAD, only DEAD, so they have a variety of local weapon options to take care any threat.

In fact, Israel was a SEAD country. Here is some background story :
the following deliveries of AGM-45 and AGM-78 took place (while the numbers of missiles are approximate, delivery dates are exact):
- 100 AGM-45A, delivered in 1970-71;
- 300 AGM-45A, delivered in 1973 (aid during 1973 war)
- 100 AGM-78, delivered in 1974-1976
The 1982 war was the heyday of IAF’s anti-radar weapons. On June 9, the operation Artzav-19 against Syrian SAMs in Lebanon featured the entire 105th Squadron—over 20 Phantoms carrying 2 Standard ARM each—as part of the first wave of the attack. Missiles were launched at ranges of several tens of kilometers, climbed to the altitude of 9km, and then plunged onto their targets. Syrian radars operated in an anti-Shrike mode (periodically turning off radars), which was ineffective against AGM-78. The 105th Squadron aircrews mentioned cases of being locked on by radars and even having SAMs launched against them, but that did not thwart the attack. In addition to the Egrof Sagol launches, several dozens of Kahlilit and Keres ground-based ARMs were launched as well. After that, SAMs were attacked by Shrike-carrying Skyhawks, and the now-blinded SAM batteries were destroyed by guided missiles and bombs from Phantoms of other squadrons. SAM positions were also hit by artillery and MRL fire, and toward the end Kfirs struck with cluster bombs. Artzav-19 was a success, Syrian air defenses were crushed with no Israeli losses.
For AGM-88 it seems most classified !
Maybe AGM-78 would be an option.

Hello,
AGM-78 looks big… Not sure it’s realistic to implement it.
Maybe we will skip the SEAD mission…
What do you think ?

Don’t see why not - they may have only been manufactured to 1976.
F-16 used the AIM-9P-3 “Mikbatz” in 1982 alongside the L version…they were short on Ls
There are books by Raanan Weiss with photos.

Hello,
I did some tests with AGM-78. I tried several configurations, including centerline (this one doesn’t works because of the size of the missile).
I ended with inner wing stations.
That being said, missile is really big.
Model of the missile is stock BMS AGM-78, with a reskin. I also did AGM-78 custom rack.
What do you think ?

I think F-105s could only carry them inboard only (Manual)…but often with only one AGM-78 and one asymmetric drop tank on the other wing.
-
@Radium: Like the '78 reskin!
-
Hello,
another option for AGM78 on Lavi, following F-105/F-4 configuration with a glimpse of Mirage 2000D…
According to the generation and the geometry of the aircraft, I feel this is truly relevant…
What do you think ?

Not exactly what you have been looking for in respect to the Lavi, but IDF has indeed applied many interesting SEAD/DEAD innovative ideas (no HARM though): Purple Punch based on the AGM-78 launched by the Keres; the Marquise missile, which was a Gabriel missile variant; the Kilshon missile…AGM-45 with a booster, and many more ground based DEAD/SEAD missiles.

@arabianjules just wait the next release of ITO ! Integration of a new aircraft is difficult and I am not sure It’s even possible to make a setup for it…

-
Hello !
Hi ! Did you replaced both OFM and AFM file ?
Also, It shouldn’t have an impact but it is designed for 4.36.3

@Radium
Yes, I did. Model looks great, but no gear…
I wil try today with bms latest update. Stay tuned. -
Okay, it works in 36.3…only no ladder.
When I look with lod viewer i see that, version 4.1, Model1.lod, Model2.lod and model3.lod has a ladder, but no ladder on model0.lod
