F-18 Hornet FLSC/DBU FAULT
-
Good morning all.
I have a problem with the FLSC/DBU of the Hornet.
I have done the checklist from A to Z, but I ALWAYS have an FLSC/DBU error when I activate it. (ONLY with the Hornet)
some issues? -
@Vespa
A few month ago I tried a bit the F-18, and I know I had the same problem. I have in faint memory that I did not have it in the end anymore, or it is a natural behavior of the F-18 (something like that). I think I also checked against a “on runway” start to distinguish whether it’s a normal behavior or something wrong with my startup procedure.
Have a look at the startup here, maybe the problem gets solved:

Maybe you need to do FLCS RESET right after MAIN GEN is online. In the F16 ther is a switch back on the left console.
I don’t know if there is a switch somewhere in the F18’s cockpit. If there isn’t then try to use the respective keyboard callback. By default (BMS FULL keyfile) I think is CTRL-ALT-F5

The Fighters Mafia could help.
@drtbkj is the guy to look for.

Good Day, All
Firstly, Thanks 'Gorn for the kind words. Careful, I may get a swelled head
Vespa and I have been conversing about this over on the Mafia Discord His issue is in the regular(not OFM) Balkans and I repro’d it. I suspect there is something in their model and/or the different dat/afm flight model files they use that is preventing successful tests. The Balkans Gang is using our cockpit Art files, though, so that does not seem to be an issue.
I am not seeing this in OFM-Balkans, and I’ve also tested in Nevada. Unfortunately, I don’t think our dat/afm will work in Balkans.
Ironman, there is a FLCS reset in the Hornet( First picture)
There is also a BIT switch(second picture,the switch below the green +)
IDK what,if any, effect the testing procedure used has on a successful test but here is what I do with a 99% successful test rate- Hands and feet off the controls until the test completes and flaps in AUTO. Pull up the TEST page on one MFD, and FLCS on the other. FLCS will say “ISA Base Fail”, or words to that effect.
- press the FLCS RESET button. The ISA warning will go away.
- Clear the faults on the TEST page, and press MASTER CAUTION
- Run the BIT test.
With this procedure I’ve only had one fail in recent memory, and on that one I repeated the procedure and it passed.
One more thing- Make sure you have hotspots on both the RESET button and BIT switch.

Good morning all !
Thank you for your help I tried all but nothing changed. It was driving me CRAZY
I reinstalled everything and I have no more problems. This must be part of the falcon mysteries. I hope I won’t have any more problems. -

@drtbkj hi ! No, for the moment I did the tests on KTO (several times and NAD)
I don’t dare to install the Balkans anymore ^^" -
Problem back again
Hello/hello everyone.
I just redid several checklists again to try to determine what is wrong.
This problem, I already had it appear in the previous version. I remember that you shouldn’t turn on the light instruments if you didn’t want to have FLCS problems (4.33 or 4.34 I don’t know anymore but I’m sure of what I’m saying. the rampstart procedure was “strict” if we didn’t want to have a bug afterwards. I tried everything once again)
I can’t quite figure out even a little bit what’s going on.
I would like to know if I am the only one having this problem please.
This concerns the KTO and Balkan theatres.
No problem detected at this level on OFM theaters. (balkan and nevada. I will install korea megapack to no longer be confronted with this problem)
Big thanks to Team OFM for looking into the problem.
I remain available if neededWhat I see from my side:
I have this problem since I use the new installer
on my disk, bms is installed on
D : falcon bms 4.36
Falcon 4 is on
D : falcon4 -
@Vespa I’m glad we’re getting you back in business. Chuckles’ Korea Megapak shares the Mafia database. Plus, as we discussed on Discord, you also have the option of OFMKTO and/or OFM-Balkans. We have a LOT of respect for both Chuckles and Cougar(the Balkans Gang). So, we were careful to keep the spirit of their theaters while presenting “our” jets.

@Vespa
Yes ramp-start IS STRICT … DO NOT BIT-TEST-FLCS ON F18EJust reset-flcs fault on start-up and leave it at that. Trust me, I’ve tried.
This is the test no plane will pass if not F16.Cheers
-
Thank you for your answer There would be an error in the .dat of the f-18.
I try and i got this error with all f-18. did you try with C Hornet?Yes the ramp is strict, that’s why I was wondering why I had this error every time
. I always start on the ramp, it screwed up all my games with the Warning blink on the HUD -
@Vespa
Yes, I’ve tried F18C/E. … FLCS-BIT will only fail and make your life miserable
OTOH, plane will be flyable, just no A/P and very probably model characteristics changed, STBY-GAINS.So, yeah, for now just reset flcs to counter start-up error and leave it at that.
Good luck.
