      Hi All,
I was thinking about getting a vr headset, but was wondering about the hand controller while using it.

Do people end up ‘juggling’ (pick up/down) the controller while flying to activate 3d buttons, etc, or is it only for the few controls that aren’t already programmed into your HOTAS?

How often do you use your controller in Falcon BMS?

Never, only mouse and HOTAS only, peek at the KB and use if necessary. To be honest I prefer BMS in 2D, but I also have MFDs and an ICP. VR is cool but in BMS it is in it’s infancy…

@pronto even though the controllers are not implemented in the BMS cockpit yet, I long ago decided that they are not worth it in other sims due to how you are saying, picking them up and putting them down is not quick enough.

A trackball is a great solution and I have one for my left hand. Also my normal mouse is in a relatively small area ( I don’t play FPS where large mouse is needed) so it’s easy for my right hand to find.

With my look under physical mod of my VR facial interfaces I can also look down to find them or my cockpit parts of a physical MFDs and ICP.

Hand tracking is slowly coming with both gloves and even your actual hands, but those of us that have waited through a long order process generally think the PointCTRL hardware is well worth it in DCS. It is basically a mouse input where you have a mini-TrackIR like device on your headset that looks for IR led units worn on your fingers with clicky buttons for the mouse buttons. This is an amazingly effective, low performance hit, and simple system. However, unfortunately due to how BMS accepts mouse inputs, it is not currently working.

@pronto Mouse if very effective, especially when its position follows your head. I like @Snake122 have limited space for mouse, but I mapped the mouse centering callback, and can always get the mouse in the center, pan with my head, and use the fine adjustment with the snap to get where and I want. Its surprisingly effective.

As a side note, I moved from old G1 reverb, to PICO, and the excellent ‘pass through’ video is a real game changer, as you simply double tap the headset and you can see your room, so you can pick/place/ even click some stuff if necessary.
