Opentrack 2.3 centering key not centering
-
@Bugler Opentrack works brilliant with BMS, and you don’t have to pay for an expensive TrackIR…
If you want to use a ‘shifted’ hotas button (hotas button combination), then you will need to use something like autohotkey (free), to convert this hotas combination to an actual keystroke. I use the ‘=’ and the ‘-’ for reset and pause, since BMS uses them for throttle up and down, and I have an anolog throttle on my hotas so they are redundant, and i un-mapped them in BMS
There maybe other button to keystroke mappers out there, but if you need help with autohotkey, PM me and I’ll give you my script to get you started.

I just tried and you can assign joystick or throttle keys to Opentrack. Use the second column of mapping buttons (like in picture above) and then press any button on stick or throttle to map it

First, Thank you both for your input currently and within the community.
I can do single joystick button in opentrack, just not shifted dx buttons.
I will try the autohotkey app and see if this helps me through this little bump in opentrack.
Appreciate you both and white-fang for your valuable time.

@Bugler I missed your point about using SHIFTED keys, sorry. A shifted layer is a construct inside BMS so not something you can map straight away. Then you should follow Fish’s advice regarding Autohotkey or similar

There exists a callback in the key files,
RecenterTrackIR
but I’ve never been able to get it to work with OpenTrack.I don’t know what it does … maybe nothing? ie. is it just a placeholder to declare what key/button mapping you configured in TIR/OpenTrack software?
I don’t see it mentioned at all in user manual, technical manual, or the trackIR setup pdf.
But it does appear bound, by default, in many of the stock key files… so seems like it must do something.

@airtex2019 recenter TIR definitely works as a DX map callback at least in 4.36 with the TIR and their software. I don’t think I ever tried it with OpenTrack.

@Snake122 @jayb @Fish44 @airtex2019
Snake and airtex thanks for chiming in.
Yes TIR it does in fact work and is programmable in (alt)launcher using shift dx buttons. In TIR it is set as F12. There must be some internal mechanism from BMS that calls or translates to TIR.
Opentrack it does not work only key press F12
I have used joytokey app to quickly see if i can program a “SHIFTED” button to keyboard F12 (default mapping) and it does work. I just don’t know if there will be side affects to NON-Shifted button, yet. Still testing.
also waiting on Fish’s script for autohotkey script to test and compare.
Once again, thanks for the discussion.
side note: as I get older cough I have less time to fiddle and need more stick time. Sometimes I just need it to work. So I may end up with TIR5 camera.
On the other hand, I do like to fiddle, so who knows.

Tangential question … does BMS support ‘freetrack’ protocol or just the ‘TrackIR’ protocol?

@airtex2019
Alas, that setting does not function as we would have hoped.So now I have just added in joytokey program to shifted dx to keypress F12 and am going to work on autohotkey.
Appreciate the time and info to all that assisted.
Clear skies.
