Transferring Aircraft/Cockpits Between Theaters
I was wondering if it was possible to move certain aircraft/cockpits from one theater to another, and I haven’t been able to find any information on this topic anywhere I’ve looked.
For example, in the EMF Theater, the HAF F-4E AUP has a custom cockpit modeled after the upgrade package. Is it possible to bring this over to the base game’s Korea theater, either by adding the HAF F-4 as an entirely new aircraft on the list, or by replacing an existing F-4’s cockpit with the HAF F-4E AUP’s pit?

Yes it is possible, but some work is required to make it happen and it’s not recommended to inexperienced users as you can quickly mess up things and trash your installation. It can also cause multiplayer incompatibilities. It is furthermore noteworthy that installing updates over a modded install may trash your installation and as long as work isn’t permanently included you need to do the modifications itself every time a new update is released, a time consuming and exhausting process. A possible workaround would be to not update an add-on theater modified by yourself, or to create a kind of alternate theater, a renamed copy so to speak which doesn’t interfere with the stock theater.
That beingvsaid, yes it’s possile to transfer aircraft and cockpits between theaters, but dependent on the scope of the transfer it is a time consuming and work intensive process. And yes you’ll not find any useful info on that process publicly.

Yeah its 100% possible, but as Scorpion said, need extracting both 3ddatabases , locating assets model/tex, import/replace models - recompress , adjusting/copying cockpitart … uh… taht’s it ? … (depends on replace or import new… but not much diff timewise in any case)
- imho, better add new model/parent to 3ddb - then just point wanted F4’s cockpitart to that via database or acdata - may be some collision with texture numbers (diff theaters), so may edit model tex’s to completely new ones
other than that… not so… complicated
BTW!! … don’t expect KTO work in MP after all (well, some of that - editing database) … depends if you want to use cockpit in multiplayer - can be done too, but more carefully… JUST COCKPIT - whole aircraft with acdata - NO! , as if server checks are in place - then no go - as diff database/acdata

You have to extract the database. Look for the parent numbers in the art/cockpit files.
For me its an addon hobby, problem is that not every addon can be extracted. (EMF for example)

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! Really appreciate the detailed answers. It 's certainly a much more involved process than I was hoping for. Considering all the complications as well like a possible botched install, not working in MP, and a LOT of files and database digging, it definitely seems like it’d be better for me to not mess around with this process and leave it to the guys who know what they’re doing.
I’ll stick to enjoying the AUP in the EMF Theater whenever get the F-4 itch again, thanks for your help again all!
Yeah, forgot one other caveat… since BMS is now updated via patcher … consider you will have “modded” theater (because added/replaced cockpit, aircraft model) -
so , very probably, if not certainly… there will be problem with BMS updating .
-this all goes for KTO , as it is default BMS theater…
But if you have space to spare, you can sort of - dual theaters - which is a pain of its own to maintain…
