@drtbkj Thank you for your hard work. Would you please also provide a torrent file for OFM-Taiwan? I can’t open the Google Drive or the Mediafire link without VPN. Many thanks.
Hi, Bluesharp. I’m sorry but we don’t have Torrent capability. Would a Mega link work? I’m told you should be able to download Mediafire through a vpn. What exact problems are you having?

Great theater but a few small issues.
F-22 does not carry Meteor missiles. Stealth fighters like F-22 and J-20 would not carry external stores for combat missions as it ruins stealth. Weapon loads should be same as Korea.
J-11 and Su-27S are missing R-77 missiles and should not have Harm missiles. Should be same as Korea. Or you could have Su-27S with no R-77 but still should not have Harms. J-10 and J-16 should not have Sparrows and Sidewinders.
And my AIM-120D is doing Mach 8… lol. That might be a bit too fantasy.

@Hubert3000 Hello,
I have no ties with this theater, but when I designed the Su-27 that is used by OFM-Taiwan, only Ukraine variant was supposed to have Harm capability. This is what was made in stock BMS.
For J-20 that is also mine, yes and no. In some cases, external payload is possible for war operations, if stealth is not what is most needed. In this case, J-20 shall be used as a PL15/PL12 shooting plateform. I even got some infos about accurate pylons that I modeled with my J-20.

Low intensity conflict against an opponent with no airforce maybe.
-
@Hubert3000 Most war operations are nowadays no stealth involved anyway !
-
J-8 PRC has SA-8 RWR symbology…
Symbol is 41, not 12. And sound 89.
-
@Hubert3000 I was wondering why air-air is so easy lol. Another issue is that there are multiple SA-10 batteries with the same name (multiple 14th air defense battalion) for example. Also multiple cities with the same name (in the same vicinity)

Hi, Hubert.
Several months ago, we did a lot of testing with long range missiles, specifically the AIM-120D, which I’ll discuss in minute. In that testing, we were comparing and contrasting the Meteor,Phoenix, and Slammer-D. The F-22 was one of our “test aircraft”, so that’s why it can carry that.
Your statement does raise a good point. We of the OFM do try to be as realistic as possible (though some may deny that ) but we do like to give the BMS membership “other options” in things like weapons carriage. We’re not insulted, though, if you don’t use them. There is another factor, as well. Knowing that the BMS membership can and does personalize their loadouts, we generally do not make Theater specific jets. The BMS Editor is very good for adding or subtracting what you want.
Your AIM-120D comment is valid. Yep, she’s fast. If memory serves, in order to get the range and Pk needed we had to compromise on speed. In some previous Theaters we had actually included all 3 of our primary models, you could select the one you wanted. We didn’t get any feedback on that, so now we just include what we think is the best compromise. Also, our development of missiles, and our jets, is an ongoing process. So, the Final Word has not yet been spoken.
As for external carriage on Stealth aircraft…

Beast mode lol. F-35 in that configuration would not be stealthy. When do you think they might use a configuration like that?
For missions where stealth is critical, such as high intensity conflict. Stealth fighters would operate in full stealth configuration which would be no external stores. They don’t go to all the trouble of building very very expensive stealth aircraft with internal weapons bays for no reason.
Missions where stealth is not critical they may use external stores but that would not be in a high intensity conflict such as USA vs China. Afghanistan maybe. BMS Korea has it right as the BMS guys know what they are doing. Just my 2c. -
@Hubert3000 Hi. As Radium said, Ops don’t always require Stealth. Sometimes it’s all about maximizing ordinance on target. Your question is interesting and something I’ve been flying and testing lately in the F-35C. Basically, what loadout is best for the mission. For a long range strike , for example. Do you carry the a/g externally and a/a internally so you can drop the bombs quickly then have a fully stealthy a/a fighter? Or, do you carry less a/g internally for max stealth? On a DEAD mission, max stealth is good, but what if there are Bandits and you run out of missiles?
That is what is fun if you plan your own missions. You have to factor the mission and the possible threats. -
Hi there
I get a CTD when flying in the campaign - approx 4-5 minutes into a mission. The game stutters two or three times and then goes back to the desktop without any error or crash notifications.
I have noticed I get a quick chirp on the RWR at the same time and this happened in 1.5 and 1.7.3.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Good Day, All. We’ve been busy lately but work continues. I wanted to pass along a tip if you happen to get a ctd in an OFM Theater, especially if it’s an “Airplane Class” error in the crash log text… Go into Mission Commander and delete all F-35A squadrons and flights.
We suspect there’s something in that jet’s FM that BMS isn’t liking . We’re looking for a more long term solution -
@wat680 Thanks, Ferde. Yes, Wat, it’s worth trying. We first noticed it recently in the Libya Theater testing. We removed the 35A, no more ctd’s. Then , I was flying in Nevada and had a ctd. I did the same thing, no more ctd.
It’s not as weird as it may sound. We’ve known for a long time that BMS is sensitive to what’s in acdata files. Nor is it weird that it happens even if you’re not flying the 35A yourself. Each object, jet, whatever has a “bubble” around it. If you get inside that bubble, it can trigger errors.
Anyway, that has become our Quick Fix Try This #1. However, we are troubleshooting the 35A files. We know several people like that jet, so we’re not going to exclude it. -
@Ferde
Thank you for your suggestion.
I also faced same trouble as Wat. I deleted F35A from teplanes.lst and flied a few times without any CTD.Actually, the campagin does not have any F35A sqdns but CTD has occured.
Anyway thanks again, I can fly Taiwan Theater without fear of sudden CTD grom now on.
-
Hey - thank you for this.
I deleted both F35A’s from teplanes.lst and also tried going through Mission Commander and doing the same inside the save game file, but I still get the CTD at the same point orbiting at steerpoint 4 waiting to push.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

@wat680
Hi, Friend.
I have delete all type of F-35 from campaign, not only A also B and C.If you have sqdn of any F-35, try delete all from campaign.
-
Hi Fox
Thanks for that - I deleted all F35’s from the campaign save file, and from teplanes.lst but the CTD happens at roughly the same point in the same mission.
Any more ideas?
Cheers

DaveHi, Dave. I fly the F-35 C a lot, and for me removing the A solved that particular bug, so you may have another issue. Are you flying the latest version? https://discord.com/channels/797936162638659594/1021169991367806976/1103464834651132015 in our Discord ofm-release channel.
Also, where specifically are you having the problem? In some testing I had issues just north of Zhihang on the east coast. I was loitering doing Pre-Planned CAS and on the 3-4th run it would ctd -
@drtbkj Thanks for this - I’ll come back to you with the exact location, but just so I am getting the process for deleting F35’s correct, I went into Mission Commander, opened my saved game, went to units tab and the units/planes tab and deleted references to the F35 - is that all I need to do?
Cheers

DaveHi, Dave… Well, I only deleted the 35A but that’s your choice. Yes, I went into MC and deleted the 35 from the squadron and flight tabs, then did the normal applies and saves.
When I start a new campaign I save it separately, for example “Airwolf Last Stand” I do that so I can test things while leaving the Save files stock. The point is I deleted the 35A’s from that file. I would think you would get the same result from choosing Auto-save in MC.
You could do it directly in the appropriate Save File, but you’d have to start a new campaign from it. The saves are Save 0 for Last Stand through Save 4 for Peaceful Day
