BMS Crashing repeatedly when selecting "Commit" to start a mission. Please help.

Update…
Yesterday I went out and bought two new 1TB Western Digital Hard drives and installed them in my PC to replace the 128GB Samsung Pro SSD.
After installing the hard drives, I installed Windows 7 64 and ran all updates.
I also installed the most recent versions of ASUS Z97 A BIOS software on the motherboard and ASUS Radeon R9270X 2GB software and firmware on the GPU.
After that was all done, I downloaded Arty’s BMS 4.32 1-7 all in one installer from the forum. I unzipped the file to the desktop and restarted my computer after it was complete.
After the restart, I right clicked the Setup.exe in the Falcon BMS 4.32 folder on my desktop and changed the settings under the Compatibility tab to “Run this program as an administrator” and set the Compatibility Mode “Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7”.
I then ran the BMS 4.32 installer while having a set of headphones plugged into the headphone jack because I’ve heard that it can cause problems if you don’t install it with the something plugged into it.
After the install, I right clicked the BMS launcher on my desktop and changed the settings under the Compatibility tab to “Run this program as an administrator” and set the Compatibility Mode “Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7” and restarted my computer.
When I ran BMS I set up a new pilot in the logbook and configured the graphics to 1920X1080. I set the pilot settings to Ace and at this point, I feel this is a clean install.
So here we go, I’m going to run it and see what happens.

Just for your information the thing about plugging audio Device during install is pure urban legend
For your information all win7 updates are not safe to install

Nobody said that for the install process, but it shouldn’t cause problems if you did.

Wow Dive you didn’t muck around. I also use a 128GB Samsung Pro SSD for the OS with out issue, However Falcon usually runs on the front of a WD terabyte drive but I have tried it on the “back” of the SSD also.
Putting that aside I did remember something late last night, Some months back I had similar problems with Falcon and a few “Sim” tools failing for no apparent reason.
As I discovered it was my anti virus had decided it didn’t like a a few particular files. It must have been an update and moved a file with out indication.
Good Luck.
-
I don’t have any anti-virus software installed because I was worried about it cock blocking things on the install.
I just did my 10th re-install of Windows 7 64 and the only update I’m going to install on it is Service Pack 1 and then I’m going to try a clean install of BMS 4.32 1-7. Everything else has been unsuccessful. It was working until a week ago and I’m thinking it must have been a Windows update that has caused the crashes. Hopefully this fixes it. I’ll know in a few hours.
I’m not mucking around at all. I’ve spent the last 8 months building this simulator and it’s just gotten to where it works. Now the crashes. It’s ridiculous…

Don’t worry you’ll get it right one day

Dive, my following advice may not help you with your problem now, but i’m sure it will in the future:
Make a Image of your harddrive and of your BMS folder on an regular basis so you can go back to an working system or BMS installs just with a few clicks and without this annoying re-install shit.
For example, i make EVERY month a new image of my system disk (which holds also my BMS install) and i make EVERY week a new copy of my BMS folder. Especially before installing add-ons, new drivers or hardware, changing key file etc.
In case of the BMS folder its just a matter of a minute, i’m just right-clicking my BMS folder and pack it in a RAR-file named with the actual date. Storing image or RAR-file on a second harddisk is mandatory.
I promise you this will save you from so much hassle in the future and save hours of your percious free-time!

Yeah sure,
err no,
uhmmm dunno,
but IIRC it was a BMS member who analogously said “Everything on internet is a fact” on old GF forums.

Me too, but not that often.
BTW. @ Shadows post.Maybe the guys had problems with their audio card ? No idea but anyway the thing is not a rule at all
I was just trying to help and to plug in a headphone for gaming (no need during install) has helped at least two guys
and it doesn’t hurt, so I thought it’s worth a try.Cheers,

Good new! It’s up and running!
On the 10th install, (maybe because I’m an idiot) I decided to not install every single Windows 7 update before installing BMS. I stop the updates at Windows 7 Service Pack one, deleted the AMD GPU Tweak software, installed BMS, and it works. Thank you all so much for offering advice and support. I’ve never had a BMS problem before and there are so many little nuances that I had no experience with. Thank you all for all of your input. Great community!

Someone else recommended I do this too. I went out and bought two new 1 TB Western Digital hard drives and installed them both and took out the old 128GB Samsung Pro SSD. I installed Acronis software and will be keeping a close of a working setup from this point forward. Thanks for the idea my Reaper. I’m sure it’s going to save future problems.
Best to you…

It seems there is a recent win7 update.that could put a mess
Any.gpu software update could be a problem as.well.
I put my bet on the amd.software since.crashlog reported.gfx problem
-
Yeah, deleting AMD GPU Tweak software could have been the solution.
Thank you all again! Really…

I have the courage, I just might not have it exactly at this moment, having survived a nightmare quite recently.

Dive
go back to your SSD and try the BMS install again. It will load much faster and so will any other software like DED and VAC if you are using it. -
Oh, and by the way, you are not an idiot although the shit you have to go through with PC’s and Windows can make you feel like one. I dont use one for work and so my only use of a PC is Falcon. Having been a Mac guy forever I was used to the POS always working (but that isnt so true anymore) and not having to think about all the crap you have to know just to get a computer to even start up. It’s not you. IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT. Remember Matt Damon and Robin Williams in “Good Will Hunting” IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT.
You shouldn’t have to know all these tricks and tips just to make a pile of used pinball machine parts function. Sadly that is what we have to make our sims work. But just wait till you get the whole pit working and fly one perfect mission and you will have a big smile on your face and it will all be worth it. Then something will break and you start the cursing all over again. Trust me. i know. It’s the way of the future…the way of the future…the way of the future…it’s the way of the future…the way of the future…
