Possible intra-flight comm issue
-
Stock KTO, no mods, current version
I created a 4-flight F16CM40 BAI mission. Panther 41, 42, 43, 44. Panther 42, 43, 44 identical loadout.
While over the S&D area dropping munitions, red air came in and I redirected the flight to Air-to-Air. During the skirmish, I lost Panther 42 & 43, leaving only Panther 44.
After the Air-to-Air action, I menu commed: “Flight, Weapons Free Air to Ground” so we could resume the BAI. I got no response. When I advised “2, Weapons Free Air to Ground” I got the following response: “Four, wilco”.
Later, I commed, “Flight, Rejoin” and got no response. But when I commed, “2, Rejoin”, I got: “Four, rejoining”.
So it seemed that when I lost 2 & 3, I lost the ability to address 4 as 'Flight" for anything, and he only responded to comms to “2”, but answered as “4”.
Just wondering if this is how it’s supposed to happen.

Were they not greyed out, in your case? (You were actually able to issue comms to “flight”?) That may be a small bug. Hard to repro, obviously… but plausible.
I use VoiceAttack to issue intra-flight comms, so I didn’t notice. Now that you say that, I should have used the keyboard to check during the flight, but I didn’t think of it.

Doesn’t 4 become 2 when 2and 3 are downed?

That’s my point. If 4 becomes 2, why does it answer as “4” on Wing Menu comms?
Another question, given the issue stated in my original post: If I have a 4-flight and only 1 of them gets shot down, will they still respond to Flight Menu comms?
-
@SoBad They should respond. I have not had the issue of them not responding. But honestly, lately I have not lost any wingmen in SP.
-
@SoBad I think this is all by design… Panther44 takes on the role of your wingman.
Think: you hit ‘W’ to talk to your wingman … not ‘2’ to talk to Panther42.
On an ordinary 2-ship flight, the ‘element’ and ‘flight’ comms menus are greyed-out (disabled).

Cos he is briefed as Falcon4-4 he will remain as such for the entirety of the flight. We do the same in a human 4-ship. If real life 2 and 3 get downed, 4 becomes the wingman but remains callsign 4.
All the time you have enough flyers to act as element or flight, the commands will be responded to.

Nope. Its callsing, D/L Ids, A-A Tac … doesn’t change. Fortunately

A/A Tacans slide between flights when aircraft leave 3D. Maybe not intraflight, but definitely intrapackage last time I checked (nothing in the logs about it).
I’m not even sure D/L stick. -
