I fly the korea midium campaign out of choongwon but dont get correct ILS. 111.3 seems to be wrong. I dont get the full line cross on landing approach. Do you have the correct one?

I didnt think Choongwon actually had an ILS at all. Where did you get 111.3 as the frequency from?

EDIT: never mind, massive brain fart…. DERP

The approach is from 160 but there is no ILS for this PN my tables so i took 1113.

              I’m confused. 😕

The chart here (http://users.skynet.be/bs999158/MAPKOREA/index.html) and in the doc folder clearly shows that ILS at Choongwon is ONLY for runway 34R. Compare to, for example, Kunsan or Kwangju where the ILS localizer is bi-directional for 18/36 or 02/20, respectively.

Are you saying that the ILS Localizer on 111.3 does not work for 34R at Choongwon?

There is no ILS on RWY 16 … you just can’t use the ILS on that QFE. (Only thing you can maybe use is the Back Course LOC, but I do not command it and I’m ever not sure it works in BMS and or F-16 HSI (?) … better stick to procedures published for the runway 16 which are TACAN approach, not ILS.

                  Hi there mate.
Well in order to help a little, here you are for the procedure of ILS RWY 34R of Choongwon airbase:
First of all the procedure is here:

Now keep in mind that the altitude is critical in order to have a correct interception of the Glide Slope and because the width of the emitting signal is narrow (means of Glide Slope).
Also there is a mismatch between the chart and the real status inside the theater. Chart says that the interception of the Glide Slope is at 6 DME of TACAN station, but actually is at 5 DME.
So you must be at 2,000 FT MSL with the proper QNH setted up (ask ATC with “T”+“T”+“1”) following the Localizer and then at 5 DME you will have the Glide Slope bar perfectly centered.
See below the photos, here i’m exactly at 5 DME at 2,000 FT MSL:

At the same point from out side view:

At the same point from out side view also:

And these are the exact GPS coordinates of the specific point:

Of course we are talking for approaching RWY 34R, so that means that your heading should be near 340 deg. (depending of the wind) and NOT something of 160 deg. as for RWYs 16L and 16R.

I hope to be a little more clear now ;).
                  Nikos.

Thanks. I thought it would work for 160 approach too. I think I saw it on an other training mission working also with only one ILS number for both directions. Sorry for that.

Check the “…:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Airport Approach & Navigation” folder Charts to get the published instrument approaches.

Well don’t rely on this that some airports have the same ILS Localizer frequency for both RWY ends. Maybe to can see this, but it is not an order or rule!
Example the Eleftherios Venizelos (LGAV) airport in Athens of Greece: It has RWYs 03/21 L/R.
From them the RWYs 03L and the opposite 21R have both the same ILS Localizer frequency of 110.50.
The RWYs 03R and the opposite 21L have both the same ILS Localizer frequency of 111.10.
But as i said, that may happens, it is not a rule. So always pay attention to the specific RWY you want to land and its ILS Localizer frequency that may has ;).
