Unsolved NVidea 4 Display Port Problem with Surround 2x3

@mjones
2nd hand GPU?Are you explaining to them that you want to implement Mosaic/Surround but on monitors with different resolutions? You may have to specify that this is your setup as most would assume all monitors involved have at least the same resolution and refresh rates.

@Atlas Yes, when I called the nVIDIA support agent, I explained to her that the GeForce 1070 would not let me set up 2x3 format (topology) for my 4 displays, one set at a different resolution. She put me on hold to get an answer. She came back to me and told me I needed a Quadro card, and mosaic would solve my problem. I bought the P6000 and installed it and it does nothing more in mosaic merge (surround) than the other 1070 card. I called them back and started a case for them to explain to me why after I followed their instructions (and a major purchase), I still cannot set up the display topology as shown above. I hope they respond soon.

I am wondering if I reinstall the GeForce 1070 in graphics card slot 4 of the computer coupled to the P6000 and plug in 2 more displays, will the nVIDIA control panel automatically sense 6 displays and then allow a 2x3 mosaic topology?

I really don’t understand why you want that setup in your first post. What is displayed in 4? What is displayed in 2-3-1? I assume you want to Surround 2-3-1 but can Surround work with different resolutions? It’s been quite a long time since I had dis-similar res monitors. What exactly are you trying to achieve with a 2x3 format that can’t be achieved by a 1x3 with the 4th one just placed on top of the centre monitor? This 1x3 setup can be done as this is how race sims usually set up their monitors as far as I know, with the 4th monitor on top of the centre monitor used to display race stats or overlay info.@mjones said in NVidea 4 Display Port Problem with Surround 2x3:

I doubt they understood what you’re saying. I hope you had that conversation via email so you can at least try to return your card.

You can have 6 display outputs, sure. Whether the 3 from one GPU will successfully “talk to” the other 3 from the other GPU is up in the air — meaning you probably can’t have BMS displayed across all screens. You will want to have your 3 game displays on one GPU and the other will have to do other displays like Helios or chat or something.

is DisplayPort daisy-chaining a viable option?
I’ve never tried it. I assume people with massive 3x2 multimonitor arrangements were doing some daisy-chaining.
Would be subject to the overall bandwidth limits of the cable/port, of course.

Also can’t run in Surround as it’s a PITA to get the triples set up every time I pop in/out of VR, at least now it’s a simple matter of unplugging 1 monitor and plugging in the VR DataPort cable. Maybe the 50xx series!

A long, long time ago, one of the suggested solutions was a Matrox TripleHead2Go as apparently, it tricks your GPU into thinking you just plugged in a single ultra-super-widescreen monitor. Kind of like a hardware version of Surround. That way, a 3 monitor setup would only take up one GPU output port. Unfortunately, I never tried it so not sure if 1) it would actually work or 2) that it would work with a monitor setup with different resolutions. -
