Legs/kneepad in Instant Action but not Campaign??
-
As for other theatres, have loaded up the pilot’s leg model and used WDP to create a datacard etc. and have been using this flying SP in BfB. However, when flying BfS SP, I only get the legs/kneepads visible in Instant Action - when I open up the campaign, no joy.
Anyone any ideas?

Works for me but I am not home to check how I did it, sir.

Thanks Mower - I know you were asking questions previously about using different LODs for different F16 variants, so I don’t know if that’s an issue, but I’ve tried flying all the variants in BfS SP and can’t get the legs to show in any of them. Perhaps the files used for instant action are different to those in the campaign?

Is there an up to date doc that decribes how to install the onlylegs.LOD file? The original thread is missing a lot of pics, and I don’t want to break my BMS install if it can be avoided (specifically I’d like to see the mod in the HAF F16s if possible)

I had the same problem, with the legs, and with the kneepads. I spent quite some time finding this out, and I have a solution. Quite some steps, but you only have to do this once, so it’s worth it IMHO.
Turns out, each theatre uses it’s own terrdata folder. So how to fix it:
First: Back up your files, Back up your files, Back up your files. And when done, back up your filesUse LOD editor (by Baldeagle) to install the pilot legs in each theatre. Just putting the 8018+8019.dds files in there won’t fix it. It’s the same procedure for installing. I used
to get it right.
2)
When installing Harpoon’s pilot legs mod in other theatres, follow the same instructions made by Burner, BUT select the correct HDR file when starting LOD editor and you will be editing within the theatre of your choosing.Example: for Korea
\MicroProse\Falcon4\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\objects\KOREA.HDR
For Balkans:
\Falcon4\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Battle For Balkans\terrdata\objects\KOREA.HDR
That’s it, you will have the pilot legs in each theatre. But bear with me, you will also have the same kneeboard in Korea as you will have in BfS or BfB. So how to fix this?Kneeboard in other theatres:
** mind you: these steps are valid when A) you have pilots legs installed in other theatres **
In this example I use KOREA theatre and BFB theatre.- Make the new kneeboard: design it or use WDP+Freebird’s Kneeboard editor.
- Get the 8018+8019.dds files from you Korean data folder (\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj) and paste them in the data folder of BfB. You can get the 8018+8019.dds files from Korea and put them in
“Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Battle For Balkans\terrdata\objects\KoreaObj”.
That’s it, you now have the kneeboard in the pit.
Custom kneeboards for each theatre (what I have, worth the effort!):
If you want custom kneeboards for each theatre, there are additional steps you need to take:
- Copy (not cut) your 8018+8019.dds and put them temporarily in another location of your choosing (desktop for instance).
- Make the new kneeboard: design it or use WDP+Freebird’s Kneeboard editor. Put the new kneeboard in the pit as you would normally.
- Get the (new) 8018+8019.dds files from you Korean data folder (\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj) and paste them in the data folder of BfB “Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Battle For Balkans\terrdata\objects\KoreaObj”.
- Take your 8018+8019.dds files from your temporary location and put them back where you got them, overwriting any exsisting.
That’s it, your done. Rinse and repeat for any other theatre.
Any questions or if you want a custom kneeboard PM me so I can assist if needed.

I believe this works for certain F16 block pits but not all. Thus, are there other CT references required for LOD update to host the two dds files to add the pilot legs?
