Wrong question… LOD editor is a usefull program, not a file. Anyway, you dont need it to change skins, try to looking for a good tutorials into the forum

Hi there.
Well you are a little confused.
The skins are the .dds files and can be viewed with a program like IrfanView:

In order to see each one aircraft which dds files use, you can use the Lod Editor program, get it from here: http://www.launchvipers.com/Files/LEv6.23.rar
I hope to help ;).

You need to explain exactly what your trying to do. This question is ambiguous!

sorry for not being clear, I applied some JanHas skins by copying the dds files as mentioned above and that worked fine. Some other features came with skins along with LOD files and I am not sure what the LOD files are for since skins work by just copying. I do have the Lev6.23.rar but when I double click on it nothing happens,i.e, the editor doesn’t open. I am reading that installing should be means of an LOD editor.

You say LE is a .rar file, you need to unpack it with WinZip or WinRar before you can use it. You can get free trials of both.
Winzip: http://www.winzip.com/win/en/landing/prodpagewz.html
WinRar: http://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0
