Wheel Brakes
-
Thanks for responding Agave_Blue you have helped me so much in the pas. I thought, as you have said that SimWheelBrakes should just work only while I am pressing my assigned button but as I said in my OP when I press my assigned button the brakes stay on until I repeat the button sequence to release them. There is one caveat that I may need to mention and that is that I have it working in the Shifted state. Would you think that may have something to do with the button acting like it is? Thank you for your time.

Thanks Blu3wolf but, as I said I have the key bound to my HOTAS and don’t have toe brakes.

In your OP you indicate that you have the command (SimWheelBrakes) bound to your HOTAS as a DX command. Which button/toggle/switch is it bound to? I would encourage you to try any/all of the following:
- remap SimWheelBrakes to the 1st trigger detent (if available on your HOTAS);
- remove the modifier and test;
- confirm that the ‘k’ key is “Wheel Brakes - Hold” in the SETUP –> CONTROLLERS screen, then check that your keyfile shows that command as, "SimWheelBrakes -1 0 0X25 0 0 0 1 “[whatever description]”;
- confirm in your keyfile that the DX command is something like, “SimWheelBrakes 0 -1 -2 0 0x0 0” …. the first “0” might be different. That is the DX button number. The rest, I think, should be the same (without a modifier).

I guess what Blu3wolf meant was, that when you hold down k, you apply the toebrakes as long as you hold it down. The parking brake on the other hand can be toggled on/off with shift+p or cntrl+k (in case of kolbe’s keyfile). Think of it like the two brakes in your car, the pedal and the fixed one sry can’t find the English word right now.

Brake Pedal and Emergency/Park brake.

On that note ….
Insure that neither your HOTAS nor your keyboard command for wheel brakes is bound to the command(s):
SimParkingBrakeToggle GEAR: PARKING BREAK Switch - Toggle
SimParkingBrakeOn GEAR: PARKING BREAK Switch - ON
SimParkingBrakeOff GEAR: PARKING BREAK Switch - OFF -
I have had issues with shifted keys getting stuck in the on state with the Warthog TARGET software. For example: shift+k or ctrl+x would get stuck with keys that you need to press and hold and I needed to use either dx buttons or unshifted keys to get them to work properly. I eventually changed all of the hold type buttons to dx buttons.

Thanks everyone. It was the fact that I had it shifted that was causing me the problem. I assigned it to an unshifted key and all is good now. TeeSquare my key was doing just as you describe. Fixed it.

I used to have the same Problem, it turned out to be using wheel break at the same time as talking on TeamSpeak.
Cant remember all the details, but TeeSquare is on the right track Me thinks.

Stick Bt_1 (Shifted): Wheel brake (k)
Stick Bt_3: PinkyNow the trick;
If you release Bt_3 while you still press Bt_1 the a/c will hold breaks (no parking break)…You can leave this “parking break” by pressing Bt_3 (holding), Bt_1 and first releasing Bt_1.
But this is only working with DX-setting…
