Congratulations and question about map reesolution
-
Firstly, I have to say the latest release is fantastic. I fired it up and went for a ‘see what’s new’ spin. Smooth as silk and at my resolution of 2560 X 1600 it really looks nice. The flight model seems much better now…rolls realistically and does not feel like it is on rails. Congratulations to everyone who was involved. Fantastic work. Reinvigorated the sim for me again. I am going to enjoy getting into it.
One thing I wanted to ask, and please don’t take it as a criticism: is there any way to increase the resolution of the map in the planning phase? Still really low resolution it seems. Would just add cream onto an already great update if there was a way to increase the map resolution. If not…no probs. Will live with it given all the rest that has been added. Again, not a criticism at all; more a comment.

i believe resolution is updated in a higher state as it’s stated.

Thanks a Arty. Not sure what you mean….though.

You ask for higher resolution og the map. In the update says the map resolution is higher than 4.32.
-
The current map is 40964096, instead of the 20482048 we had in BMS 4.32, so it’s 4 times larger. Maybe there is some issue with the map resolution and BMS UI using 1024*768 (if that is still the case)?
-
Yes the ui map is higher res than before. It is now 4096x4096 rather than 2048x2048. But since the ui displays at lower res and the user can zoom in or out, the precision is not optimal on the map which is not vectorized. Something for the future hopefully.

flight model is strictly identical to 4.32 except Tef in landing gains.
i suppose you refer to FM on rail prior to 4.32
-
Yes, prior to 4.32…although the latest just feels…better…even better than 4.32. Maybe a placebo affect with the new release. The map resolution 4 times 4.32? Ok. If the ui still displays at a low resolution, then the map will be at that resolution, unless I’m missing something? Right? Anyway, as I said, not a criticism, just an observation. Great release and got me back into bms.
Thanks.

Is there a low level turbulence effect in weather perhaps?
Its just that everyone Ive spoken to, is convinced that 4.33 feels less ‘railroaded’ than 4.32.

pure placebo lol
turbulenles and atmospherd are strictly identical
FM is strictly identicalhow can people say 4.32 was railroad ?? DOH

Well, I dont see a change in rolling, or pitching really. I like the wing flex and condensation though. The weather feels different though, and the handling of the jet in the weather feels different. Is the only change to the weather, the fact that it changes geographically as well as chronologically now?

no changes… only more dynamic as indeed the weather is now location dependant. but same weather type will give you exact same atmosphère in 4.32 and 4.33
-
Well then, clearly the only other relevant change is that the terrain graphics have improved.
I guess this means that if the terrain graphics are made 100% indistinguishable from the real world, people will think the flight model has improved lots again XD
-
Well, that is one hell of a placebo effect! I hear what people are saying re no change between the two releases, but I swear 4.33 just ‘feels’ better. Definitely no rails…. All good. Btw, I started reading the manuals. Wow! I have a lot of work ahead of me. So many questions…like what is the best way to proceed now with this incredible simulation? With ramps starts, slowly getting to know the jet? Love a steer here, as it seems just a wee bit overwhelming…
Thanks again to those who did this. Fantastic. I hope you are getting onto flight sim mags for an in depth expose about this thing…this game changer… I used to be a journo…get out there are publicise this thing!
