CBU 104 - No LAR/LAR2 scale
-
Something is not working with CBU-104 (afaik 103 and 105 are ok) .
There is no LAR scale , nor it can be dropped in PRE and VIS mode .
Cheers
Edit: Similar applies to CBU - 89 Gator … No LAR scale ., but , it works, it can be dropped in CCIP, and (blind) in CCRP .
After checking with db, CBU-104 is derived from CBU 89 - so the problem could be related ,… (CBU105 is related to cbu97swf . CBU103 is related to cbu87)

For JSOW PRE and VIS and for CBU-103 and CBU-104, there is no RMAX2/RMIN2 since there are no end-game parameters to satisfy.

Ok , that is for LAR2 , but there is not LAR1 for CBU 104 and for CBU 89 Gator, … No RMAX1/RMIN1 scale.
(I’ve added CBU89 on 3/7 hardpoint in db because it is not for that plane, just for test, because it is base bomb/missile ptr for CBU104)
I’ve just ran test drive on F-16DM-40 , first I’ve noticed problem with CBU-104 which can be carried by that plane only and there was not scale, bombs were RDY state, aligned, functional.
No LAR1 scale… that was strange… CBU104 cant be pickled at all.
I’ve looked in database, only these CBU’s dont have LOFT flag, that was strange also … Then I figured out that is using 89’s mechanics , so I’ve added them to hardpoint list and took off.
Again no LAR1 scale , but since it is not WCMD it doesnt follow same mechanics , and they do drop in both CCRP and CCIP.Something is not correct for both bombs in database. …
Again, no big deal, lot’s of other toys to play … just FYI, for some future patch. ok?
Cheers

None of the CBU-87/89/97 are going to have LAR because none of them are WCMD and aren’t using CCRP IAM mode. CBU-104 is WCMD and should have some kind of LAR.
-
That is what I am trying to say … there must be at least some kind or range scale but it is just not there. … for this two bomb types, which are related.
On contrary for CBU103 (cbu87) and CBU105 (cbu97) , it seems ok, range scale is there immediately when selected., and they do drop.
CBU’s104 drop only when jettisoned
Cheers

Hi,
Yes you are correct, something is AFU with the CBU-104 only, 103/105 are OK. Since data is looking fine, I guess there is some code issue here, I’ll check it.
And don’t confuse CBU-89, it should work fine and like a dumb bomb with CCIP/CCRP/DTOS.
-
Hi,
Yes you’re right, not to be confused with 89’s ,… because they doesn’t follow J-mechanics/wcmd (actually agm mechanics for glide weaps , or at least for some ) , so they do drop normally but just not showing the range scale.
Since 104’s follow/are related to 89’s code they dont show it neither … so there’s the catch, but where exactly I cannot say, tho wish that could be more helpfull.
But… again it is not real ‘showstopper’ … plenty of other ‘toys’ to play with
Just for the next patch…Cheers and thanks

No, the missing LAR is relevant ONLY for CBU-104, the 89 isn’t expected to have a LAR because dumb bombs don’t have one

That’s the bug
If you add the LOFT flag up for the CBU-104, you will have a LAR and will be able to Release. It appears that not having the LOFT flag on will cause the range (internally in the code) to be undefined which cause the LAR not to appear.
However… seems like there is some general bug with the WCMDs, the submode actually in-use is the CCRP (see on the HUD bottom left corner) and that is wrong, but that’s already not a data bug but mine. It’ll be fixed. I don’t think it has any “functionality” effect besides that text on the HUD, although the FCC submode is really different, it appears that fortunately the other symbols and bomb’s functionality isn’t affected from this bug.
Big thanx for finding!

Not LAR but loftable “DLZ” for CBU-89. Some dumb bombs are considered loftable and some not (MK-82AIR). I don’t know if CBU-89 should be R/W or not. Of course it can be physically but sometimes CBU submunitions have minimum speeds for deceleration arming and might be prohibited from lofting to ensure arming.
Unless it is changed in recent OFP, I think loftable “DLZ” should have top mark at max loft range and bottom mark at level range. A 20 degree loft release should happen with the caret nearly middle of the scale and 30 degree dive with caret below bottom mark.
-
Yes “DLZ” should be there for CBU-89, same as it is for all dumb bombs, in the case of the CBU-104 the LAR was missing because the code was in the correct place but nothing was displayed because the “Loftable” flag caused the bug.

Hmm… it sounds this is getting deeper than just one poor little bomb.
Guys, I’m glad that I’ve helped this much if at least noticing, thanks for taking over and of course , taking care of, … Hope you’ll nail that sucker out.
I’ll continue flying and report any of these “little things” , as it turns out , it could be they hide something bigger underneath.
Cheers, and thanks
