F4Browse_v2.31

I am not able edit (Harrier weapon loadout) Balkans theatre with F4Browse_v2.31, error message: “Can’t map file KoreaObj.lod”. Any help?
-
Everyone should stop using F4Browse and use BMS Editor, there is even a nice handy menu option in the launcher to start it.

You can create new objectives with falcon editor?
-
Or import / export DB entires?
-
BMS Editor is not working for me - crash on start up, I don’t know why. Therefore I use F4Browse, with which I weapon loadout in Korea campaign edited easily. With Balkans is not possible.

Go figure…
Now that you said it I opened FE and there they are
Create Class in Class Table TABand right click to add copy in Objective Data - Objectives same for Features…
DDDddddooooooHHHHHHH
Edit: And since we are there what does the File->Advanced do? it has an option add folder… meaning?
-
The editor has the ability to sort the weapons table. This is needed to ensure that weapons that need squadron stores are in the first 600 weapons slots. The advanced options allows you to point to folders that should be read when sorting the weapons, when the weapons are sorted tac, trn and cam files will be fixed accordingly.
Use with care!!!

I only understood the
"The editor has the ability to sort the weapons table. This is needed to ensure that weapons that need squadron stores are in the first 600 weapons slots. ""Use with care!!!

Then don’t sort the weapons

My main issue with not being able to use F4Browse is that FE cannot delete registries in the tables.
So if you add something and later on you decide you don’t want it, you cannot get rid of those entries.
You would have to begin from scratch a new custom DB.Also the lack of export/import functions from the tables themselves (not the objective features, that thing goes great on FE). In example a bunch of new airbases, etc…
I miss F4Browse for POH too…
-
So do I bud, even though FE is much better when it comes to add-copy features and/or objectives.
Would also be interested to know what caused f4browse to stop working with our DB…
-
I bet is just size.

IIRC it was only ever possible to delete the last entry from a table in F4Browse.
Deleting an entry from within table causes a lot of changes in the rest of the DB. Just try doing a weapon sort and see how many files get changed (not just the DB but also cam, tac etc).
Without modifying lots of other tables in the DB what was a helipad in an objective could become an office block.
If you have an entity you don’t want just re-use it later on.

KoreaObj >~ 1.7g (it will go to ~2g much after that NoGo) or falcon4.fed list corrupted .fed file needs to start and stop sequentially. No breaks i.e. 0 to 100 then 200 to 400 will not let the tool work.
My suggestion is to use BMS Editor, as I have stated before. I know it takes a bit of getting used to but it is there for us.
BUT and this is a BIG but……IF you cannot wean yourself away from F4Browse you will need to COMPACT your KoreaObj file with LODEditor so that the tool reads it.
The COMPACT tool is in the Utilities menu in LODEditor…run it and you will be amazed as to how many LOD’s are not used and thus deleted…lol
As far as the .fed…you will need to go to your custom ABase and reassign or remove the Papis…then place them again…LOL!!!But U1 is out…now start over again…ROTFLMAO!!!
Have FUN,

Thanks Demer. I will try.
Also, I think maybe using the export/function for the entries could save me quite a few workhours.
I will try with the compacting tool. I have use it before, but i didnt got exactly what it did. Even thought i have printed and red the “uglyThing” a few times. Its a hard to grasp manual.

Lod compacting helped reduce size, But no joy on f4browse working…
About removing PAPIs… Too many custom airbases… I will stick to FE. But I will make sure I make a back up of the new custom DB after I finish the entries structure, but before I populate objectives and introduce the new lods.
