If you are controlling the Cockpit buttons and switches with a mouse, the Idle Detent is on the front/forward side of the throttle. When RPM’s stabilize at 20%, you move your throttle up about 3/4 of the way. Put your mouse cursor on the throttle in the area of your radio switch. You should be able to click it when the cursor turns green. After you click the Idle Detent you have to return the throttle to idle before it will throttle up. Some people have problems with finding the Idle Detent. So BMS has an option to help. Open up the Configuration Editor and search for something about the Idle Detent (can’t remember exactly what it says right now). Click it and save it. Now you don’t have to move your throttle or click the Idle Detent. BMS will do it for you. This will help you until you figure out your Idle Detent issue.

What brand/model controllers are you using?
After Main Power ON, Fuel Norm, Air Source ON, etc
- JFS 2
- RPM 20%
- Set throttle somewhere in the middle of its stroke if not already there
- On the keyboard, press Alt-i (Idle Detent)
- Pull throttle back to the rear stop (to idle).**
- Watch RPM increase
- Continue with rest of the ramp start
Air Source knob is visible in the 3D cockpit if you use a head tracking device and move your head forward to see it underneath the arm rest. Otherwise, rotate the AS knob clockwise by hearing one click sound will set it correctly to NORM position.
**In the real jet, the pilot simply pushes the throttle forward from full rear at 20% RPM to start the engine and the “idle detent” (which is actually an idle cutoff release lever) is actually used for pulling the throttle full back to the engine OFF position.
BTW, the correct term is “ramp start”, not warm up.

Actually, it’s not quite that simple. I watched a YouTube video of an engine start, and it takes a deliberate, ‘unnatural’ movement of the throttle past a mechanical stop to get from/into the cutoff position. It’s kinda/sorta like the TQS of a KC-135. The throttle levers have to be pulled up in order to move them past a ‘hump’.

My TQS is an X-65F, which has a detent near the idle setting, so I don’t use the idle cutoff function. Gotta be careful when raking the throttle back, though, else I shut the engine down unintentionally.

There is a way to give your TQS a small margin against inadvertent in-flight shut down of the engine when pulling the throttle back to the detent. Pull the throttle handle slightly beyond the idle setting detent before setting the “idle cutoff” in Setup\Controllers (mouse right click). The only somewhat minor downside to this method is slightly higher engine idle RPM when on the ramp (which appears to be RW BTW).
If you want to attempt to create a hard detent, insert a small object(s) at the back end of the throttle stroke as demonstrated here:

Hi good people.
I have another query which is puzzling me and that is a piece of equipment that sits in between the Lighting Panel and the Avionics Panel , I’m guessing it’s a arm rest for the Joystick… I think, maybe? Anyway whatever it is, it is directly sitting over the Air Con panel and obscuring/blocking my view but not my control for the Air Source knob, this knob can be turned BUT I CANNOT SEE what setting it gets selected to?? Is it set by default to Norm?I think if you press and hold right mouse button and then also hold the mousewheel button you can move your view forwards/backwards/sideways through the cockpit so you can view the switch.
But default on rampstart it is OFF so you have to left click it once to move it to NORM.
