Newegg has a sale on the Warthog for $299 now
Its not the best sale ever seen, but $100 cheaper than amazon. You might be able to find it else where for same price, but i figured i would post it for those that were interested.Hope its helpful

yea its now showing that its a marketplace vendor, so they must have run out of stock, it was only up for a few hours, that kinda sucks

Sometimes the best deals are had at “Fleabay”. In fact, I just picked up a spare Warthog stick for $77. It is “used” but so little it still has the yellow arrows. Sometimes people buy these controllers because they look cool, but don’t know what to do with them, or want just one of the two controllers in the set, or realize they don’t have time to fly, or the significant other gets rid of it.

Agreed! Very happy with mine compared to previous Saitek sticks and much cheaper/and for now at least more durable than my Cougar that had an FCC and then a Ribbstick (the force mods were plenty durable, but not cheap).

Yes, I’m sure the Saitek is a nice bit of kit, I have a set of Saitek F16 Combat Pro metal rudder pedals, quad throttle quad (for IL2 Clod) and pro pad commander (used as a ICP for a while).
But can you do this with your control stick?
bought the KG-13B grip Cougar/Warthog mod from a gent in Russia.
You see, this multi-stick design was part of the original sales value of the Cougar when first rolled out. I remember them stating they had the EF-2000, F-16 and Mig29 stick grips as possible addons to the F16 and now A-10. They never really followed up on that aspect for whatever reasons, but others are starting to do it.

You weren’t suppose to notice that but at least it turns the correct way unlike that Russian stuff, my right leg is so much stronger now I can’t handle right turning tendencies! (Hehe yes I understand the KG13 stick is a German stick, but when I think Russian+prop=weird opposite rudder usage).
Glad to see the aftermarket is finally delivering on the promise of different sticks. Did I see a Warthog add-on version of the VKB Cobra stick?
My other concern would be how well the Warthog base will handle the extra torque on it with the KG13 mod.

Funny as I just commented on such in our 1st VFW forums on the differences between High Gain and Low Gain stick pullers and the use of the WartHog vs the Cougar being that I just bought a new-old stock FSSB-R1 online that didn’t have the mounting plate, but works great. Point being, some HIgh Gain pilots who are high kinetic yank and bankers on their controllers (Stick and Throttle), probably need the FSSB base plate whilst Low Gain pilots like myself are like pianists or surgeons who are very gentle on their controllers. So I suppose if youre a HG pilot, then the longer torque (more leverage) KG13 plus Warthog throw might be a problem on the WH base and buffer ring. Some guys replace the rubber buffer ring with a Teflon one to make it last longer and take more bashing/thrashing about.

Hehe, no I just recently came across this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133172 and in general I’m always thinking about stick durability after having both Saitek and TM over the years (hence why I felt I needed to have both a spare Cougar then and X65 now). As to HG/LG I’m a bit of both, probably more HG in BMS after years for the force mods at full strength (but run the X65 lower because I no longer feel I have to have the realistic weights). IRL, I’m definitely a LG guy.

The FCC-3 and FSSB-R1 have adjustable pull sensivities, one doesn’t have to use the realistic 24 lb pull setting. The FCC adjusts the sensivities via the Foxy profile curves whilst the FSSB uses dip switches. I use the FSSB with 8 lb (X-axis) and 10 lb (Y-axis). For the FCC, I’ve learned a trick where you don’t pull the stick full deflection whilst calibrating in the CCP, and it makes the gain more sensitive (less pull forces) in the X and Y axes. So now they behave similiarily and are equal in quality and accuracy.

Yeah, back then I wanted the full weight for “realism,” especially with the Ribbstick. I tuned the FCC curves to get as close to the real weights as possible. Now, I appreciate the on the fly gain change you can do with the X65 with the 4 force setting buttons. I mostly fly on stock setting F3 these days, which I can’t recall the weights on that off the top of my head. Edit: 3.4 lbs X, 5.5 lbs Y
