4.33u1 - LJDAM SMS set laser code not working?
-
Anyone else having this issue? Made a TE to test the new GBU-54 settings. Air start near target. Weapon is powered on to a RDY state, Combat laser is set, Laser is armed.
I drop without a track on a steerpoint in target area, cursor zeroized, then slew the pod to a different DPI and start lasing.
- If I set LRCVRCTRL to OFF, the weapon ignores the laser and hits the original steerpoint, thats perfect.
- If I set LRCVRCTRL to AFTER, and lase the default loadout set code (1688), the weapon steers to the new DPI and hits it, also perfect.
- If I set LRCVRCTRL to AFTER, and lase a different laser code (1511) which is set in both the SMS under LCODE and for the TGP (List 0 5), the weapon goes to the original steerpoint.
Any one else able to replicate or able to get successful use of a new SMS set laser code that is not the default loadout code?
Thanks, hope this helps

shoot me if i am wrong but in RL and i think also in BMS the lasercode has to be set hardcoded in the loadout screen for the boms on the rack.
That means if you change your lasercode in sms you are not lasing your own bombs.hmmm dont rember, read the ….

I just tried it, and it works as intended.
Contrary to standard LGBs, the laser code for LJDAMs is set in the SMS page, CNTL page 1. If you didnt touch it, it is still at 1688
(you also need to set LRCVRCTRL to AFTER in page 2 for the bomb to follow the laser spot).

So if you take loadouts set 1688 bombs, change them in sms to something else valid (eg 1511), drop on a stpt, then slew away to a new nearby target while lasing 1511, they hit the new tgt?

Yep, just tried exactly that and it worked just fine.
One case I didnt try though : setting 1511 in the loadout page and then 1511 in the SMS. Be right back…
… and yep, all works fine here

I feel bad about shooting you haha but what you say is only valid for older weapons. Newer ones (GBU-54 and 49) you can override the hardcoded setting by adjusting it in the weapons SMS page (because these bombs have a programmable fuse). My issue is that I can’t seem to have the override be used, it sticks with the originally set laser code.

Copy. Wonder what went wrong for me. Were you manually lasing or auto lasing? And assuming no ramp start just airborne start like me?

I started on runway, but yes, no ramp start.

Hmmm still cant get it to work.
ULing a video to Youtube to show what I’m doing. Any idea whats going wrong? It’s still processing but should be in full HD soon.
trying to lase a loadout 1688 bomb with SMS overridden 1521 code.

I’m checking this, the code looks OK but from a trial I did seems like it’s not working indeed, checking deeper.

Back in 433 if you set a custom laser code for a GBU-12 and saved the gamestate and came back later it would revert to default code. In 4331 is the laser code more persistent?

One possibility I thought of is that the BRU-57 doesn’t support it. I’ll try tonight if just using one weapon on a standard pylon makes a difference.

Hi, don’t bother with testing, there is a bug here and I’m fixing it for next update/version. This is my fault, apparently I didn’t tested a different laser code so good, so for now unfortunately the laser code option for the LJDAM in the SMS page will not mean anything…
Thanx for finding!

No, it’s still same behavior as 4.32, if we pass laser code in saved TE/Camp data then we will break default TE/Camp tools (like Tacedit) and AFAIK we are still not going there.

Glad to have helped!
