Gibfender's X55 Profile
-
Hi all, as there are so few out there I thought i’d share my profile for anyone else. FYI I’ve made it so the M1, M2 and M3 switch changes between mastermodes and Button 3 on the stick is “NWS/A/R DISC/MSL STEP” (missed it on the mapping diagram)
http://bit.ly/x55rhino give me a shout if you can spot any potential improvements

P.s. this is for use with TrackIR and rudder pedals.

Nice. Did you program air breaks?

Ah good point, I tried to bind it to the speedbrake slider but couldn’t work out the best way to trigger it on/off. I can’t remember if I left my attempt in that profile or just left it to the keyboard command. I’ll check later and update the link.

Thanks for posting, I have mapped similar functions to my x55, but also going to try a few things you’ve showed me. Thanks!

Gibfender…I was finally able to program my pinky roll on the Throttle for “FOV Increase” and “FOV Decrease” It is nice to finally not having to use my mouse scroll wheel. It makes a big difference in flight.

Glad to hear it, yes it’s definitely more convenient than TrackIR zoom or mousewheel

Binding the Air Brakes into the slider, convert the slider (assuming you only fly single engine jets ) into Bands, the 3 bands it forms, centre leave as do nothing, forward I use as Open Airbrakes and listen for them opening and the effect on speed, fully back to close them again and leave the toggle airbrakes out of it. Now the timing of the opening and closing has gone from a simple button open and they go right open to having a time delay on open and close. I know it can be altered in the ini files, but this way you get exactly what your after and it works, just remember to reset to centre to leave open or closed. I had a look at an X55 in Curry’s ( UK Department store ) but i didnt like the overall idea of the switch layout on the throttle, very nice feel on the joystick though. Enjoy.

I just got my x55 today and I’m testing out this profile. I have one problem and that is the range knob. It setup in the options to be what your profile is but it doesn’t do anything in-game

Program the range knob through the setup/controller/advance page. Which HOTAS button are you trying to program?

The top rotary on the throttle. The bottom one works for Radar elevation, its just the top one doesnt work for range.
Also I had to unbind the HMS and HUD brightness on RTY3 and 4 otherwise my HUD and HMS would not show in-game.

did you check the functionality of the top rotary in windows/H.U.D. first? are you getting a reading from it at all?
You can’t use HMCS on the dial nicely as you need a bind for SimHmsOn (the click to turn-on point) - without that the dial stays inop (I wish there was an option to omit that switch from operating the HMCS dial)

I have the top rotary assigned for my Range Knob. It was programmed thru BMS setup page. What options do you have? I believe mine is set for “Z” axis.

In the BMS options the rotary is detected. Not much of a problem though, i’ll just bind range on my keyboard and then program the rotary to press that key.

Dave, I have the same problem, although I’m not using this profile. Try using the range knob with TGP as SOI. It works for me, I can zoom in and out. I assigned it in the advanced avionics menu.
I don’t know what else the range knob is supposed to do. For example, turning it with FCR in CRM should increase and decrease the range? Because that is not working for me.

I thought it would change the range of the FCR and HSD. I’ll try it with the TGP.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, but it’s my first HOTAS, so I’m not sure how the range knob is supposed to work. Again, for me it works with TGP, so that means that Falcon recognises the rotary. I’m starting to think that it simply shouldn’t change the range of FCR or other displays, because if it works correctly with TGP, and I set it directly from Falcon’s menu, then there’s no reson why it should not work for other purposes.
Can someone please clarify the function of the range knob?

Range Knob only works with the TGP for me. I am using a tablet to change the range of the FCR and other displays.
-
Oh, ok. So it’s not supposed to change the range. It looks like it’s working as intended, then.

It does change the FCR range in AA mode.
Check in your install folder, Docs, Falcon BMS manuals, -> BMS-DASH-1 and look up the throttle configuration. There you will see what the range knob is used for.
EDIT : all the functions are not listed in the Dash-1. Basically :
- in AA, when FCR is SOI : change FCR range
- in AG, when FCR is SOI : change radar gain
- when TGP is SOI (AA or AG) : change TGP zoom.
I dont recall what it does when HSD is SOI, but I advise you to have the HSD range coupled with the FCR range. You can do that with OSB-2 on the HSD page (DCPL - CPL)

For me only TGP zoom is working. It’s strange, don’t you think? Because it obviously means that Falcon detects the rotary, but for some reason it’s not working in any other mode. Do you have any idea why this happens?
