1st VFW Special Ops Missions

I got into the habit of creating campaigns and TE’s for my wing. They’re certainly not perfect as I am learning to create bigger and better TE’s that are sort of like mini campaigns. In any case, I thought I’d share them with the community. If you have any questions then feel free to ask. The download files will be at the bottom of each briefing and I’ll continue to add to them once I complete missions.

Date: February 17, 2012 (Approximately 8 weeks before Operation Northern Lights)
Originator: North Atlantic Treaty Organization - Intelligence Command
Info: United States Pacific Command, Central Intelligence Agency, South Korean National Intelligence Service
CC: 1st Virtual Fighter Wing Command, 294th Virtual Fighter Squadron Command, 401st Virtual Aggressor Squadron Command
Background:
Over the past year the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong-Un, has been threatening the West and its allies with the reveal and planned test firings of newly built Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. Intelligence sources say that this program was feverishly backed and funded by the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. However, even as the DPRK publically revealed their plans to test these missiles, Kim Jong-Un has failed to deliver on his promises. In doing so, the DPRK has triggered a series of events. Even though Russia and China secretly aided North Korea in building these missiles they have recently denounced the DPRK’s decision to test fire the missiles as a show of force against the West. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization along with the Republic of Korea has been put on a state of alert since the DPRK’s public intent to test weapons in and around the borders of South Korea. Tensions remained high but at a standstill.Situation:
No one could have predicted the fallout that would affect not just the DPRK and the ROK, but the entire world. Two weeks ago an attack occurred on DPRK soil that ranged from air and ground strikes against Koksan, as south as Haeju, and as west as Kwail. The DPRK still has yet to make a statement on the incidents, but intelligence sources has identified the man behind the attacks to be Colonel General Paek Sang-ho in what can easily be described as an act of civil war against the DPRK. General Paek Sang-ho, once a prominent military leader in the DPRK, had become increasingly frustrated at the DPRK’s leader lack of communist values to show force against the enemies of the DPRK. With a substantial portion of the DPRK’s military leaders and army who call themselves the Unified Republic of Communists, General Sang-ho had pulled off a partial successful coup before the DPRK did its best to mount a sizable defense against its own armies. Of course, China and Russia stress to NATO and its allies to let the DPRK deal with its own problems, but intelligence sources believe that both of the two superpowers secretly back the radical North Korean General. Satellite feeds show a Russian carrier group off the coast of Kwail. The Russian Federation diplomat to the DPRK says that the carrier group is there to help quell hostile tensions between the DPRK and the URC. It is speculated that the carrier group is really there to protect sea shipping lanes that funnel supplies from China to the URC. It is unknown at this time what the URC plans to do if they ever completely controlled the DPRK.While the rest of the world looks on in confusion, NATO with the help of the United States Central Intelligence Agency has been keeping a close eye on the situation before deciding to, while erring on the side of caution of course, aid the lesser of many of the evils involved north of the 32nd parallel. An official secret memorandum of intent has been sent to the government of the DPRK detailing that operations will commence against the URC with the invasion of both URC and DPRK airspace and borders. Any action against these assets will be met with the same hostility. No official reply has been returned but since the time it is speculated that the memorandum has reached the highest echelon of DPRK government, air operations have decreased at present. It is expected they will pick up again once the URC begins combat operations against the DPRK once again.
Mission:
The 1st Virtual Fighter wing out of Kunsan Airbase South Korea has been chosen as the primary strategic and tactical strike force to support Black Ops missions within the borders of the DPRK and against the URC. Command responsibilities have been delegated to both NATO and the US Central Intelligence Agency and any and all assets required will be funded by NATOIC. All records and mission profiles will be archived by the CIA using the highest levels of classification while NATO, ROK, and USPACOM will disavow all knowledge of these operations. Good Luck and Good Hunting.Supporting Documents:

Russian Carrier Task Force
Operation: ~ New York ~ FRAGGED
Mission Date: Classified. Approximately 7 weeks before Operation Northern Lights
Pilots: 16
Mission:
We’ve learned that a platoon of Navy Seals was unsuccessful in the rescue of two CIA agents behind enemy lines due to the transport that carried the platoon getting shot down north of Haeju. Sources report that survivors were taken to Kwail Airbase for interrogation. The two CIA agents are in a transport truck heading west from Nuchon Ni to the 820th Armored Corps Base. Using highly unconventional means, the priority is to help facilitate the extraction of the surviving members of the Seal team and CIA agents while striking a logistical blow to the URC in the process. Mission details are outlined in the frag order.Frag Order:
TRACKER1(CSAR)~ Tracker1’s mission is to extract the surviving seal team by landing on Kwail after the airspace has been cleared of MIG’s and the Surface to Air threat neutralized. Tracker will use an eastern ingress onto the main runway and expedite pick-up the survivors. A ranger team will already be in place to secure the survivors and stand by at the western end of the runway for extraction. Tracker1 will not show up on any datalink due limit on packaged aircraft. Code word that Tracker1 has secured the survivors, extraction team, and is RTB is OTIS.
FIST1(SEAD ESCORT) ~ Fist1’s mission is to clear the way to Kwail for the extraction asset and strike assets. Once Tracker1 is inbound for landing, Fist will assume a CAP above or near the target base and engage any hostile aircraft that impedes the package until RTB.
DOG1(SEAD STRIKE) ~ Dog1’s mission is to clear a path for the extraction, strike, and escort aircraft to the target airbase. Known threats will be on the briefing map but be advised that some surface to air threats will be unknown. Once it is assumed that no surface to air poses any threat to the package, Dog1 will join Knight1 and CAP south, feet wet in grid 15, until the package is RTB.
MAULER1(OCA STRIKE) ~ VHF 5/BU 9/UHF 17/Flight Channel 4: Mauler1’s mission is the destruction of Kwail Airbase. The primary target is the runway. Any target of opportunity is a secondary. Mauler will stand by until OTIS has been called to initiate their strike. Mauler will then RTB with Fist, escorting Tracker.
JACKAL1(INTERDICTION) ~ Jackal1’s mission is to first find a small HQ battalion heading east to west then recon the target for the lone Kratz track in the formation that’s carrying the two CIA agents. Once the truck has been identified (visually or through TGP) the flight will give the code word Vader and take a screenshot of the truck to prove identification. Jackal will then be cleared to engage all vehicles other than the truck holding the agents. The truck will continue on its way until intercepted by a 3-ship flight of UH-60’s to extract the agents. After their A/G mission is complete, Jackal will then immediately assume a southern CAP in grid 21, feet wet, until package is RTB.
KNIGHT1(TASMO) ~ Knight1’s mission is search and destroy of two cargo ships in the vicinity of grid 15. These cargo ships are carrying supplies from China to the URC and will supposedly be docking at Sagon Ni Naval Base. The cargo ships are the primary targets for Knight and the secondary, if ordnance remains, are targets of opportunity at the naval base. Air to air will then be assumed at the south end of grid 15 to backup Jackal and facilitate the RTB of Tracker.
Support: Camel1 for refuel & Seosan for emergencies and refuel. AWACS will also be on station.
Success/Failure Conditions: The survivors, rescue extraction team, and CIA agents are the priority of this mission. It fails if any of these aren’t recovered.

Hmmmm Saturday you say?
Yup, at 1800 GMT (2pm Eastern). FAC(A)s will be on station rattling off 9-lines and calling in airstrikes :). Hopefully I can get my FRAPs issue resolved so I can record it.
PM Jammer and he’ll get you the info. Just need our theater and TS info for the main briefing.

Hey AV8R - I’ll clean out my inbox. You would just need our custom Korea theater (jammer can provide), know how to ramp start and use IVC. That’s all that’s required I believe. Everything else will be briefed and you can take a #4 slot in a flight if you want and have the easy job :).
If you want to attend PM Jammer though since he is the organizer. You should come though… these are always my favorite missions.
Lawndart - You guys coming?

While the rest of the world looks on in confusion, NATO with the help of the United States Central Intelligence Agency has been keeping a close eye on the situation before deciding to, while erring on the side of caution of course, aid the lesser of many of the evils involved north of the 32nd parallel. It is expected they will pick up again once the URC begins combat operations against the DPRK once again.
Situation, Political & Intelligence Update:
While combat operations against the URC’s shipping vessels and airbases during Operation New York hardly dealt any kind of blow to the URC, the intelligence gathered from the rescued CIA agents proved invaluable. Documents that were seized by the agents implicates the Russian and Chinese governments in aiding the growing URC regime. NATO has explicitly declined to go public with these findings, which would undermine the current humanitarian effort that serves as a lifeline to the cities, towns, and villages that are inadvertently caught in the civil feud. With Russia and China backing rouge General Paek Sang-ho, the pressure for DPRK leader Kim Jong-Un to maintain stability within his own government has increased. Even though the majority of the DPRK sides with their leader, Kim Jong-Un’s reluctance to unleash his military and go on the offensive against the URC has allowed General Paek Sang-ho to freely receive and transfer war resources at will. NATO forces temporarily slowed the URC from receiving resources from China with precision strikes on vessels in the URC’s shipping lanes. However, the URC has now increased their operations with help from Chinese frigates patrolling the shipping lanes. Constant air patrols from Russian aircraft via the Russian carrier off the western coast of the DPRK further protects these cargo vessels and keeps DPRK strike aircraft at bay.
Furthermore, the URC has begun to mobilize its ground forces. With only Sariwon army base in their possession to accomplish this, intelligence reports that the URC has been using airfields, factories, and even small civilian towns to help deploy its war machine. This also includes chemical, biological, and even nuclear warfare. In response to this growing threat the DPRK has set up blockades in the form of two tank battalions on every major roadway that could facilitate the DPRK losing ground to the URC.
Politically, all sides are remaining silent and refuse to partake in talks sanctioned by NATO citing that the current crisis in an internal affair, though it has been publically stated that NATO doesn’t support or recognize the separatist URC government. The DPRK continues to be neutral, but has been quiet on the offer to allow NATO special operations to be conducted over DPRK soil. NATO, unwilling to enter a conflict with the DPRK, will continually recognize DPRK borders as no-fly unless absolutely necessary.
NATO took a huge gamble in using unconventional and unorthodox means to wage a covert battle against the URC. By using tactical assets such as the 1st VFW’s F-16C-50, NATO along with other allied organizations have the means to organize precision missions against the URC without putting civilians in more danger who are already under duress by this new and aggressive regime.
Mission:
New intelligence reports outlines the URC’s preparation to wage a ground war against the DPRK. While the DPRK has enough assets to further protect the URC from spreading, a ground war can cause major civilian causalities to the population. Especially since the percentage of a chemical attack against the DPRK remains a viable option to the URC.Reports show that the URC has been using Sariwon Textile Mill to create weapons of mass destruction and will use FROG-7 medium range rockets to disperse the product against DPRK cities. It is believed that within the hour of the beginning of the operation, several FROG battalions will be moved from the Sariwon Textile Mill to a known open area for final preparations to move north and engage the DPRK. Intelligence also believes that several cargo ships will dock at port with combat munitions to aid in their ground war.
Special Operations: Saskatchewan seeks to degrade or fully destroy the URC’s FROG battalions as well as destroy the cargo vessels carrying munitions. Furthermore, strikes against frigates protecting the shipping lanes and surface to air threats along the southern coast of the URC are authorized. Key bridges will also be targeted to keep the URC from moving their ground forces north and give the DPRK more time to prepare if the URC plans something more serious.
Execution:
Phase 1: Suppression of enemy air and arrangement of CAP within enemy airspace
Phase 2: Suppression of enemy surface to air assets
Phase 3: Engage and destroy enemy seaborne combat patrols
Phase 4: Engage and destroy enemy seaborne cargo vessels and ports
Phase 5: Search, engage, and destroy enemy FROG-7 missile battalions
Phase 6: Destroy enemy bridge infrastructure to prevent passageFrag Order/Flight Plans:

Thanks Demo, you’re OK in my log book.
Now look at those N. Korean mugs in that photograph. They don’t look like they are having fun… except for the one dude on the LHS, second row down from top.
Looks like Gomer Pile. -

If so, plz PM me as to the download details.

Negative. You can run these in standard korea.

The theater we use is only needed if you fly with us in MP. We use it for stability purposes. It’s just basically Korea with a custom objects folder and a few publicly available mods installed. Nothing fancy.
-
I see a mod Korean theatre on your site’s download page. is that the correct one for this mission?

Yep. Last time I checked there were three spots left.
