Simple Newbie Request: step-by-step instructions
-
I have a Fighterstick, Throttle and rudder pedals (pedals in transit). The CH software is installed and I was able to calibrate/test. I downloaded a non-trackir profile from the forums to get started. What do I need to do, step-by-step, to get this setup working in BMS?
I am genuinely looking for the “idiots guide” here!
Thanks for your patience and help.

If I’m not mistaken, Redbeard has a very detailed setup procedure in the CH directory in your install. Can’t tell you the actual location of it however as I’m away from my computer and well into the beers!
Welcome here!

For starters welcome back! :headb:
I have to recommend trackir or some other head tracking hardware or you will not get the full benefit of the fully clickable 3D cockpit. Seriously, this is IMO the biggest enhancement to the game for the dollar amount. Brand new, a T-IR 5 will cost you $150 -$160 and I bet that’s under what you have in the HOTAS.
As for your HOTAS setup I have seen before where someone has everything set up correctly except that the controllers are not selected from the drop down menu in the UI. If you can send a screen shot of your set up in the UI it may provide some clues for somebody to help you better. It might even spare you the dreaded RTFM reply that some like to dish out!

I suspect you did not set up your controllers within BMS user interface.
Go to SETUP and CONTROLLERS and I think ADVANCED, there’ll be I think 4 tabs & long list of what controller controls what function (eg. Aileron, brakes, radar cursor etc etc) -
Some people don’t need to have their hand held, but rather pointed in the right direction.

Found the advanced tab and realized the axis were not all set up. I now have both throttle and stick working. Never had a setup like this before, so I am unfamiliar with the concept of how the CH software works to create a single virtual device for Falcon. I need to do some reading to fully understand it on both ends. The first hurdle, however, has been passed and I can use both devices in the game! I am genuinely interested in the TrackIR. Now that both hands are occupied it makes total sense.

I don’t think there is much documentation with regards to BMS UI, but as I said, most of them are self explanatory. Most, not all…

Trolling through the threads after fooling around with the CHCM and BMS setup (“fooling around” is a euphemism for getting completely and hopelessly lost), I finally came upon one that mentioned the documentation I was looking for. If you are a newbie like me, check this folder out: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Joystick\Generic\Kolbe This seems to have everything required to get started with just about any joystick.
My guess is that this is mentioned in the install guide(s) that I did not read. Oh well…

The profile doesn’t list the BMS names when I use CH Print.
Argh.
Going through profiles by the half dozen.
Can not find any that are usable.OK I found the key file print out.
Six pages woweee.YEAH BITCH MAGNETS!
P.S. mouse wheel zoom not working even though it is enabled in the Falcon BMS config file and also not sure if this profile uses the keystroke or the BMS keys file.
More hair thrown on floor.
