In the past I’ve had no problems setting up the TGP with GBU, but now I keep getting IR Area T, in place of the L. Any ideas.?

Laser is in training mode. T

You need to change it to combat mode.

You also need to arm the laser. The T appears regardless of arming state to indicate the laser is in training mode (1.57 micron wavelength, reduced power - so as to be eye safe, assuming you are not viewing it through any magnifying or focusing apparatus such as NVGs). An L appears when the laser is armed, such that when the training laser is selected and armed, LT is displayed.

Not in BMS (or the newer M6.1+ tapes for that matter - M5.2+ is TL by the way). Correct behaviour in BMS is as listed on page 91 of the TO BMS1-F16CM-34-1-1, i.e. it’s L or T and if they’re flashing the laser is firing.

And M4.2+, so it really does depend.
