@Radium the detail of the air intake duct which goes into “air” mode at the end of the landing gear retraction is pure art.

RE: Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
@Snake122 thanks for the answer, ai may very well rely on pscockpit launcher to launch open track and RTT, alongside with the alternative launcher. I was wondering whether the alternative launcher does some magic with the ini files of the RTT as well. According to your answer, I’d say that it doesn’t.

RE: Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
Ok, after giving a try to the “soon to be the official one” but still “alternative” launcher today, I’ve to say that I really appreciate the controller setup, very friendly and easy to interact with. Thanks a lot. I also appreciate the philosophy of writing/back-up under the hood Falcon BMS.cfg according to the user selection.
I’ve a question btw, is there a way to set a module as default to turn on? Like, I know that with my configuration I’ll always fly with the RTTClient on, is there a way to launch it always (beside clicking on it every time before flight)?
Thanks

RE: BMS Key File Help
@ertiyu thanks for sharing the modified / updated Excel file for 4.37. I’ve always been a fan of it. Just for me to understand, now the “supported” way is through the Alternative Launcher, right?

RE: ZTZ-96 A
@Radium your posts are simply amazing. Thanks for sharing not only the final product (which would be a great added value on its own), but also the development process; all those details that provide us with a sneak peek / a behind the scenes point of view, let us grasp the huge amount of time and skills required to reach the final design.
Amazing 3d modelling engineering. -

@Kolbe-49th thanks for the explanation, it makes perfect sense, if I spot any otherI’ll report for sure!

Tactical reference in 4.36 some 3D models aren't right
Hi there, very minor bug here on 4.36.0 I searched but couldn’t find any entry, and I report it only since I know you guys always seek perfection.
I noticed that in the tactical reference, some 3D models seem to be messed. For instance for the AMX and the G-4 Galeb, it basically shows an F-104. Great plane though

RE: 4.35 U3 Rants, feedback, comments
Another usually silent user here. The work you developers are doing is simply amazing. You provide us with unparalleled realism, tons of fun and always new gameplay.
The experience is so full and tangible that sometimes one tends to forget about the huge work there is behind the scenes.I really want to thank you all for this great opportunity you give us.
Speaking about U3 and 4.35 in general, what I feel is a dramatic increase in FPS from U1 to U3, the small issues of U1, are getting solved.

RE: Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Standalone USB adapter
@irpus the cougar stick is kind of well known for its less than optimum diagonal movements, among others that’s one of the reasons which led Thrustmaster to develop the Warthog base.
You are right, the commercial solutions for updating the cougar stick gimbal are no more available, scrolling the web I found some custom solutions, but custom-design of machined parts can easily be quite expensive, hence I would say that compatible bases are still the best option for an update :
Warthog base
Or virpil baseAnyway let me share few of the custom solutions I found:

https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/166030-cougar-replacement-gimballink text

To conclude, yes you are right I’m Italian, there is a rather big community out there!

RE: Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Standalone USB adapter
@irpus If the problem of your Cougar stick is due to play in the gimbal, there are several hardware mod that can be done (one is to get rid of it and switch to Force Sensing Resistors), but there are also gimbal replacements available in the market.
If the source of the problem is related to potentiometer wear, you.may try to clean them, or directly replace them. If you chose the latter I’d pick hall sensor solution, as it provide superior output more consistent in time. -
RE: Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Standalone USB adapter
@irpus I think it would definitely feasible, only basic soldering skills are needed. The software is available.
I’d skip all the rather complex configuration to change the way windows names the device, and in that way it is just an ordinary arduino upload to the board. Also the 3d printed case is just eye candy.
So the cost is limited to the components you chose basically -
Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Standalone USB adapter
Dear all,
following some really neat piece of info online (https://pit.uriba.org/uriba/standalone-cougar-tqs-part-i/ ), I created my own version of the Thrustmaster Cougar Standalone USB adapter.Differently from other DIY projects, mine is based on Teensy, which provides two analog input converters, and comes with all the digital I/O needed to cover the Cougar functions.
In the post of my blog you’ll also find the details on how to change the USB device identifier/name so that under Windows it shows up as Cougar instead of Teensy (this step is possibly the most difficult one, and completely eye candy, at the end of the day, possibly an unnecessary headache).
The code, also available, has several features:
- an hardware calibration routine ( so to center the axis and take advantage of their full span ). The calibrated data is saved in the Teensy EEPROM and read at startup.
- axis shaping for the Antenna ( so to have more accuracy in the usable range ±40, and coarse up to ±90)
- axis filtering, thanks to the Teensy high frequency it is possible to filter the reads with only minimal delay
- Dogfight override button (Center button)
- In the calibration routine it is possible to set a value for Idle detent (cut-off), currently that part of the code is commented.
- buttons de-bounce
And I also shared the PCB circuit to seamlessly connect the components, a 3D printable case and other neat features, check it out!

Homemade Warthog Stick desktop mount
Hi all,
for the ones interested, I designed a custom desktop mount for the Thrustmaster Warthog Stick. It is based on aluminum profiles (3060), hence with a slightly slimmer aspect with respect to commercial products.
The required tooling is minimum and I used mostly COTS, nevertheless, I’ve to say that all in all, the commercial alternatives are really worth their money, and my experience is that the home built kit can be remarkably cheaper only in case one has access to a CNC to cut the stick plate ( I did 6 mm, but I believe 4 mm would do the job).More info in this post of my blog.
