@drtbkj said in Is there a development schedule for F-18:
rother TGW is heading up the CFD aspect, and yes, the goal is as you describe. The second aspect is 3D modeling. Brother Kaos, through his Growler Project, is heading that. The third aspect is cockpit modeling. Brother Musurca has provided a very useful tool to work with cockpit hotspots. So, the goal is to see how functional we can make “stock” cockpits, for those who don’t want the Viper or Hornet pit in their jet of choice. And, meanwhile, Brother Eddie is doing the 1001 things that make our stuff work in BMS.I think of our current phase as “building infrastructure”. We’re learning how to do what we want to do, and we are making progress…,"
Asleepwater, you asked if there was a development schedule. I invite you, and All, to check out the Project Bug thread. It is meant to be the “diary” of the BMS Fighters Mafia ( which is explained in the thread’s first post). And Sobo, thanks for the link.
Anyway, I’m happy to answer your question here. The short answer is “3-4 Mafia Weeks” . I’m not saying that to be evasive. It’s just hard to put a hard time frame on it.
Hello,
in fact, you didn’t understood what I meant.
I just said that as far as I know, there is no specific work done for now by BMS dev team about F-18.
You are talking about TGW, Kaos, Musurca and Eddie, I may be wrong, but they are third parties, and not in BMS core dev team.
By my side, I feel that F-18 is constantly in dev on several software, and I hear about this aircraft in simulation all the time since early 90s. That’s so boring to me !
I am myself not advocating for another F-18 development, but it’s just my personal feeling, and I consider that any dev is just great because done with people’s passion.
Cheers,
Radium
Hi, Radium. I think Lorik is correct that you and I are saying the same things. Yes, our Dev’s have not focused on the Hornet for awhile. Mav alluded to the circumstances of that. And yes, the Mafia is a third party, for now. I say “for now” as, as I have written several times, we would love to work directly with the Dev’s. For now, we have taken steps that our work is available to the Dev’s. The Mafia Files is not just for the membership, and I have personally shared that with the Dev’s. None of this should be taken as a negative attitude. We are big fans of the Dev’s. Let us never forget that they, in this “Viper Sim”, gave us the Hornet and carriers in the first place! They simply do not have the time to “flesh out” the “Other Jets”, though they did a real good job for the Hornet. The Mafia’s “mission statement” remains the same . We are a group who have great passion for BMS and we feel it is NOT “just a Viper Sim”, so we are here to help with that “fleshing out”
I think the best answer to Asleepwater’s original question is, yes, there is a development plan/ schedule. If the Dev’s feel comfortable including our work in upcoming releases, fantastic. If not , we’ll continue to help the membership DIY it. We’ve been doing that ever since the hotspot fixes that started it all.
It really is as simple as that.
