RE: 4.37 Screenshots
Iāve been having some A2A fun in the Mirage 2000s this weekend.
While over Bosnia, evaded a missile from this MiG-25, turned back in, hit and damaged him with an R550, then finished him with the auto-cannon. Love the deep āchug-chug-chugā of the gun!

RE: 4.37 Screenshots
This week Iāve been flying flying the F-15C in anticipation of the new working being done by BMS on this jet. I wanted to test out the AAR. The refueling port doesnāt visibly open, but everything else works. Took on fuel over Saudi Arabia without too much effort.

Deep Simulations F/A-18 A-D Skins
Iām pretty new here, but Iāve been working on a series of skins for the F/A-18A-D series. If there is interest, Iāll be making them available to the BMS community.
Credits
Credit for the original base skin goes to Sandy āRoninā Padilla, now used with permission by the Other Fighters Mafia (OFM) group in the Falcon BMS community, who graciously granted me the OK to offer these to the BMS community. Thanks to @drtbkj
Credits also to the Falcon BMS developers and community, without whom the air combat simulation space would be considerably less than what it is today.
Changes
My modifications include:
New hazard/caution markings (jet intake, ejection seat, jet blast, arrestor hook, etc.)
Changes to or removal of false canopies
New national and service markings
New night identification light graphic for the CF-188A
Changes to base paint colors and contrast levels in some cases
U.S. Navy and USMC air crew helmets now white in accordance with U.S. Navy regulations
Tan flight suitsSquadron skins are assigned to a model version (A-D) of the F/A-18 that the squadron is known to have operated.
Depicted so far are U.S. Navy and Marine Corps squadrons that flew variants of the legacy hornets.
Iāve spent time time researching which squadrons flew which version of the hornet, and my squadron skins correspond to my findings, though many squadron flew more than a single variant. It was interesting to note the wide differences in markings, paint condition and overall jet appearance, even within a squadron. Weathering (not yet implemented by me), old paint vs. new paint, different grey tones in markings, all made each jet unique in the photos I reviewed. I have not tried to make the markings uniform in tone for this reason, and my next project after completing this series is to start adding some weathering. The following is the status of this work on the .dds files for the F/A-18A-C models:
2150 - CF-188A - Clean CF-18 (new grey tones + markings, but no squadron markings) ā almost done
3653 - F/A-18A ā Pending ā make a suggestion!
3655 - F/A-18B - VMFA-321 āHellās Angelsā
3657 - F/A-18C - VFA-25 āFist of the Fleetā
3659 - F/A-18C ā Pending ā make a suggestion!
3661 - F/A-18C ā VFA-151 āVigilantesā
3663 - F/A-18C - VMFA-314 āThe Black Knightsā

RE: is there a f-35?
@drtbkj Very nice!
@greenman , USAF F-35As in the Nordic theatre, taken just moments ago. Itās a great looking model for a great jet!

RE: is there a f-35?
Yep. Just confirmed that in the OFM Afghanistan theatre
@Greenman. Just select the F-35I/A and use the āChange Skinā function in the load out interface to get a USAF livery.
(The older F-35A model is in the background for comparison)

RE: is there a f-35?
Hi Greenman, I think it was my F-35A screenshots youāre referencing. Yes, those were of the USAF F-35A in the OFM Taiwan theatre. They were taken in June, 2023, so they would have been from the Taiwan DB from that period (maybe 4.37 update 1 or 2?).
I havenāt looked in detail at the F-35As since then. Iām expanding my collection of current (update 3 compatible) OFM Theatres and will look for you as well.
@drtbkj I understand from our Vietnam conversation a few months ago that all the OFM theatres are with a unified DB now?

@greenman said in 4.37 Screenshots:
@DeepSimulations where can I find the link? Is it just in the ofm Taiwan theater?
Hi, happy to help but Iām not sure what youāre referring to.

Wingmen and jamming behaviour
Iāve been investing some time in studying the recent ECM implementations, watched the excellent videos from @AviationPlus from a year ago, and digested this helpful thread:
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/26319/jammer-questions-can-t-lock-a-jamming-aircraft-until-10-nm/44?_=1710161470581While Iām getting a much better understanding of what I can and should do with the jammer, I understand that jammers can affect wingmen, so I presume their jamming can affect me as well.
This raises questions of what AI wingmen actually do with their jammers and consequently, how we should manage them. Right now, my questions are:
If you order āMusic Offā, are they in standby mode? Will they go to active or XMIT3 themselves if mudspiked and/or fired on?
If you order āMusic Onā are they in active or XMIT3 mode?
Also, when they are active, so they:
- mirror your own program and active/transmit settings
-have their own default setting (if so, what?) - have their own AI logic in making selections on programs to enable and their active/transmit setting?
I ask because Iām trying to further develop tactics in a DEAD context using an AI 4-ship.
As an adjunct question, is there any HTS/HAD triangulation happening through IDM with AI wingmen?
Thanks for any insights on this!
Cheers.

RE: Vietnam for BMS 4.37
@drtbkj @Jumpstart5179 Iām all set up now thanks. Hereās my flight over the Gulf of Tonkin last night. Today Iāve got some F-104F weaseling scheduled.
Iād been away from BMS for a few months while flying some great recent SR-71 and F-104 releases in X-Plane.
The nostalgic flying of those great jets had been really rewarding there but I miss having SAMs shot at me , so Iām back in BMS - Vietnam.
Thanks again for the help and the updater!

RE: Vietnam for BMS 4.37
Hi,
Iām debating whether to try an roll back to 4.37.2. so I can fly āthe lost theatresā.
Are there any plans to bring this theatre up to 4.37.3+? -
RE: Hornet Pit Change
@Seifer Thanks for this. Got all my F/A-18s/CF-18 mirrors fixed with code, including those that didnāt have working mirrors in U1-2.
