The actually 3DS Max exporter works up to 3DS MAX 2013
(even 3DS MAX 2014, but you have to copy the plugins manually to the correct folder)For modelling specs watch also:

For model structure, … you can name your nodes (objects in 3DS MAX) to whatever you want.

I have the 3d max 2012 installed and I downloaded the 3DS Max exporter, but where do I install the 3DS Max exporter? do I install it anywhere and just copy the 3DS Max exporter to the plugins directly under max? sorry for asking the obvious questions.

What is required to export models from 3d max to the SIMS?
What is the poly limit for the model?
How is the model structure (meaning does it has to have certain node names) so it will work in the game?Thank you,
