RE: The link to U4 seems broken
@Birdy-dma are you trolling? That links to U3 which is the latest.

RE: AGM158 JASSM launch requirements
@gazaret i donât have an answer for you, rather a question. Are you trying to use this in a campaign, and if so, which theater has this weapon?

Bear Trap Campaign - F-4Es not using Sparrows intelligently
We are a few missions in to the Bear Trap campaign (4.37.3 U2) and have noticed that the F-4E fighters (according to TacView) are quite often launching their Sparrows and immediately turning away (breaking lock), even when they are not in any direct danger.
Sometimes they are maintaining lock and getting kills, even when they are in danger.
I can provide ACMI / youtube recording of ACMI if you would like to see the behaviour I am talking about.

RE: Am I being Thick.
@AllenB1971 I am in York, so coming over might not be all that easy. Would be happy to help with anything you need.
Also, if you are looking to get into flying in a group again, the 185th is always on the lookout for more pilots. http://www.185th.co.uk/default.asp

RE: Looking for simpit in the UK (not to purchase)
@Sergio_MPS I assume it has to be an F-16 pit?

@CheckPoint
Where is âManaged by HQâ Option?
BTW, I see there is a âMovingâ option under Advanced, will that do anything?Ignore the Advanced Movement section.
It isnât âManaged by HQâ but âSet by HQâ and it is in the top-middle âOrdersâ section in the screenshot from your opening post.

RE: How can I disable movement in MC
@CheckPoint said in How can I disable movement in MC:
I would say :
- uncheck the Managed by HQ
- set current battalion position as its objective
Pretty much this.
I have moved air defense battalions (Patriots) in 4.35 / 4.36 but not yet in 4.37.
You can leave âSet by HQâ on, but you also then need to set it to defend an objective. In my experience in moving Patriot battalions, not every objective is valid for being defended by a Patriot battalion. I think it might need specific locations for the various elements of the battalion to be positioned.
FYI I used this video as my guide.

RE: [4.37] J-20 is missing from AWACS vocabulary
@regev I am not the authority on this but I believe that only the aircraft in the stock KTO theatre will have their type read out properly. All other aircraft get the âaircraft IDâd as key-mikeâ treatment.

RE: *New Video * Falcon BMS | Cool Cinematic | by Sim Gaming Life
@D3m1aN very cool video. It is amazing the cinematics possible now in BMS.
(last 30 seconds though, I sure hope those werenât civilian areas being bombed)

Use Virtual DesktopâŚ
Much better compressionâŚ
This link says that Virtual Desktop is NOT for Oculus Quest (and I am assuming that includes Quest 2 because that isnât listed in the supported devices either) https://store.steampowered.com/app/382110/Virtual_Desktop/

RE: Original Quest support in VR?
@Pegasus82
I have now got it working. I had to reinstall Steam VR as recommended in another topic.I followed this guide to uninstall Steam VR as it was not as simple as you might expect. https://techtyche.com/how-to-uninstall-steam-vr/
Just change the âLighthouseâ step to âOculusâ and that worked for me. -

@Pegasus82 did you re-install steamVR?
Seems to help in some casesâŚ
It worked for me, thanks!
I followed this guide to uninstall Steam VR before reinstalling. https://techtyche.com/how-to-uninstall-steam-vr/

RE: Do I need Virtual Desktop?
@AWmk1 said in Do I need Virtual Desktop?:
@KillerDew976 you added BMS to steam library as a non-steam game right?
then you just plug in your link, power up the hmd, access the link thru the HMD interface, stay away from steam âhomeâ - instead open the BMS launcher and make sure VR slider is ticked, at which point steam VR starts, and then you can click âlaunchâ on the BMS launcher. you can then see the BMS menu in the HMD either thru Steam VR or thru your link to your desktop monitor - ideally you interact with it thru the steam VR interface, and then upon entering 3d youâll see BMS in VR thru the steam VR interface.
I am also having problems with the Quest and VR, as detailed over here https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/24313/original-quest-support-in-vr
I did not have BMS added to Steam Library as a non-steam game, so I gave that a try.
I followed your instructions as far as âopen the BMS launcher and make sure VR slider is tickedâ
My issue is that I do not have a VR slider in the Launcher and I canât figure out why.

RE: Original Quest support in VR?
@rubbra said in Original Quest support in VR?:
@Pegasus82 the UI bit is irrelevant - you can use the new one to launch 4.36⌠down the bottom to the left of launch thereâs a white box that lists all the versions of BMS the launcher can see on your machine. Thatâs the bit I was wondering if youâd double checked.
I meant the 2D BMS UI, not the Launcher UI. I have been using the Alt Launcher since several versions of BMS, and I know the selection down the bottom right of the Launcher to choose which version to start (I have options for 4.36 and 4.37)
-
RE: Original Quest support in VR?
@rubbra said in Original Quest support in VR?:
@Pegasus82 this may be a completely stupid question, but at the bottom of the launcher, does it say falcon BMS 4.37? The launcher will pick up whatever versions it can find in the registry
No such thing as a stupid question, but yes, I have made sure that I am using 4.37 and not 4.36 and the UI is the new one so I am 100% sure that it is 4.37

@Badger said in Original Quest support in VR?:
@Pegasus82 you also have the oculus software running too, right?
Yes, that starts as soon as the Quest is plugged in to the PC (1)
2: I put on the headset and I am in the Oculus VR âroomâ.
3: I enable Oculus Link when asked.
4: I start SteamVR on my PC and the headset view transitions to the SteamVR room.
5: When I start the BMS Launcher, it does not have the âEnable Virtual Realityâ option.I already have set g_nVRHMD 1 in my âFalcon BMS.cfgâ file

Do you have the âEnable Virtual Realityâ option in the Launcher?
Yes
Well that is interesting. According to page2 of the BMS VR Guide, all I need to have that option available is for SteamVR to be installed. I definitely have it installed, and it works.
As said earlier, I have enabled VR in the BMS Config file too.
Not sure what I am missing.

RE: Original Quest support in VR?
@Badger in the SteamVR settings, have you selected âSteam Betaâ or âoculus_win7&8â?
Do you have the âEnable Virtual Realityâ option in the Launcher?
Have you set the command-line switch âforce_steam_VRâ? as mentioned in the link from my OP?
