RE: PWM plays Battle for Balkans
Yeah, I planed 3 1-ship naval strikes on them as the very first missions of the campaign with TOT 5 minutes apart from one another. There were 2 others that I left alone, which I kinda regret now, as they now have Migs circling them, making another strike extremely difficult. I tried bringing escorts along as bait, but even that didn’t end very well.
After losing bunch more escorts I also started to plan missions against Kirovs. It’s very interesting to me since I’ve never done naval strikes before. Also my first time fragging!
Here are the next three episodes of the series. They come out every other day but I thought I’d update here about once a week, hopefully not too spammy.

RE: PWM plays Battle for Balkans
This was my first expirence with this campaign: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?22039-Taking-out-the-Kirov-AGM-65G-FTW&highlight=kirov
Nice to know I’m not the only one having a hard time! I tend to get past the naval threats most of times, but all my escorts drop like flies every time. Maybe I should do something about the Kirov as well

PWM plays Battle for Balkans
Just started a new series on my YouTube channel! After finishing my first campaign at North Korean theater I was looking for more challenge. I downloaded Battle for Balkans and boy did I get what I wanted!
I’ve learned quite a bit after my previous campaign, but of course I still consider myself a complete noob. I still have a lot to learn, so I appreciate any hints and tips if you have them!
Currently there are three episodes out and here they are:
Episode 1 - Let’s Make It More Difficult!
Episode 2 - Pop-Up Attack(ed)!
Episode 3 - Dodging Missiles
The third one is probably the most exciting mission I’ve experienced so far! Dodging enemy ships, dodging MiGs, dodging SAM:s, dodging A-A missiles and running out of fuel while dodging. Nerve wrecking stuff, for me at least!

RE: Bombing fail - but why?
From the sounds of it, you pressed the pickle button about 15 seconds too soon.
IRL, you can press and hold the pickle - its a consent to release. Release the pickle if you no longer consent to releasing the bomb.
In falcon, its bugged - about the best way to ensure release is to only pickle in the last 2 seconds before release.
.Ok, thanks for the advice! Now that I think of my failed and successful bombing runs, it makes sense. Didn’t know it was bugged.

RE: Bombing fail - but why?
The REL ANG variable controls the loft maneuver prompt. You notice that when you approach a target from far away the timer in the lower left will count down twice. The first countdown is when you should perform the loft maneuver (if desired) and the second is the countdown to actual release.
Yeah, I think I did that right? I mean, I waited trough the first count down and held the pickle before the second count down hit zero, but… nothing.
Here’s a direct link to the bombing run I’m talking about:
I’m using the GPS quided GBU31 3/B:s in this mission. Anyone notice what I’m doing wrong? (And yes, master arm is on :p)

RE: Bombing fail - but why?
Again, thanks to all for great tips. I decided to try these bombs:
GBU31 3/B is GPS guided. With a precision target steerpoint, the 31 will hit the centre of the runway more easily, i.e. launch and forget sort of speak.
…but of course, I still STINK! So I was trying the GBU31 3/B:s to blow out a bridge, but the suckers didn’t want to release. After about 1651 tries and nearly out of fuel they finally released and I have no clue why. I did turn off the ECM for the final try but I don’t know if that was the reason…
Managed to hit the bridge tough… Here’s a video of the mission:
Bombing runs start at 16 mins…

RE: Bombing fail - but why?
Thanks for your advises everyone :bowd: I’m getting wiser every day!
I used to use GBU-24/B’s for runway bombing a I did rather well with those. I stopped using them because I had couple of missions where they didn’t do enough damage, but I’ll probably start using them again.

Bombing fail - but why?
I used to be good at bombing runways, but now I’ve failed several missions in a row and I don’t quite know why. Using CCRP the bombs will not release even if the angle seems to be good. With CCIP the bombs miss, tough I think they should not. In the previous mission my wing-man got some hits, but the runway was only damaged.
I was using BLU-107B:s for runway bombing.
I record my missions, so perhaps this video of the failed mission helps:
- Failed CCRP run at 14:41
- CCIP attack (bombs missed) at 18:00
- Debrief at 34:00
(I got on court martial for downing an F16 after I landed, I believe this was because my wing-man rear-ended me on the runway. I didn’t realize this on video. However the failed bombing is the thing I’m confused about.)

RE: Let's play BMS @ YouTube: Single player campaign playrtough
The series is still going on and I’m slowly getting better. With sound quality and commentary. Also sometimes I hit with missiles. Friendlies.
Here are some of the more recent episodes, with better sound quality:
Episode 8, Tragedy -
A successful mission ends badlyEpisode 9, Mavericks! -
Learning to shoot with Mavericks.Episode 10, Two in a Row -
Another success, skills improving?Episode 11, Miserable Failure -
No. The skills are not improving.Episode 12, Evil Shrubbery of Communism -
This time I viciously attack two North Korean shrubberies. Presumably communist ones. I also manage to choose missiles, that are useless at nighttime, for a night mission. Of course I also get hit. Let’s see if I can fly home sideways.Episode 13, Uup - Sooorry! -
I finally start to learn how to hit with the Mavericks. Which, of course, is unfortunate for the friendly troops down there.Episode 14, Air to Ground Action -
Still playing with Mavericks. Perhaps this time I might even kill enemies instead of friends?Episode 15, Hair-Raising Stuff!!-
The most intense episode so far!!And finally, little off-topic: I’m also starting a new series with Kerbal Space Program. At first I try to fly around the world with a jet:

RE: Let's play BMS @ YouTube: Single player campaign playrtough
Watching someone trying to get a radar lock on a waypoint symbol was a first timer for me
There are times when it’s crucial to be able to laugh at yourself, instead of drowning in shame. This is definitely one of those moments.
Anyway, thanks for the tips mates. I’ve been watching tons of tutorials, but it seems to be a different story to do it all in practice. Especially while trying to make a commentary in English (obviously not my native language). Seems to take about 70% of my already limited brain capacity, so I screw up a lot more than while playing by myself.
Talking about screwing up, episode 2 is out:
(I swear I WILL get better at this!!)

Let's play BMS @ YouTube: Single player campaign playrtough
Get high blood pressure or some other medical issues while watching a noob making an ass of himself trying to make it trough the campaign? Headaches from facepalming? Well, you’ve come to the wrong place!
So basically this is my playtrough of a campaign in North Korea. The first episode just went out, the second is coming on Saturday. I’ll try to get out about three episodes a week.
The 1st episode:
Playlist for the future: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlvkyQFw9o5q0puJn5EBpcF61HBF8WnSX
And the channel, if you want to subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/ThePressurewashermanIf you notice some mistakes I’m making (and you will!), have some helpful tips or other comments, please go ahead. I’d be very grateful!
I noticed that Jojcib is also making a similar let’s play. It seems he is better at commentary and gameplay, but I quess you can watch my videos as well I’ll be sure to give Jojcib a shout-out at some point, there doesn’t seem to be that many Falcon BMS Let’s Plays out there.
Ps. the game volume in the 1st episode is a bit high, that is going to be fixed in the future.
