…or so I thought.
Hanging from the chute, I exited 3D (Escape/e) and got the pop up window that said Falcon has stopped working and crashed to desktop. Tried to restart the sim and after clicking Launch it would display the Splash Screen for BMS/Billionsoft and not go to the UI. Left click on the mouse would pop up a window stating that Falcon was (not reponding).
So I restarted my PC a couple of times and that didn’t change anything. Check for a crash log, but no crash was logged for the time of the error. Then I decided to check my acmi files since I was recording the flight and the acmi for that flight was not there. What I found was that by Launching the sim and not touching anything (walking away for a few minutes), the acmi files were compiling on the restart. After it was finished the UI had popped up and the acmi from that flight was found in the acmi folder.
I wasn’t aware that acmi would continue compiling/loading after a restart following a CTD. I don’t know if this is a new behavior or if I just stumbled upon it after years and years of flying this sim. At any rate, thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone else has ran into this before.
Other than that, seems to be running smoothly so far. Had to play around with some gfx settings to get decent performance and better looking picture, but my computer is starting to show its age and so are my AMD GPUs. Seems like the devs like the Nvidias better with this SW, so I might have to do some upgrading before the next release.
