I’ve done a clean/new install of 4.37 and saved up my User\Config & Backup folder prior to uninstalling the sim. Is there a way to import/copy/past my prior AL HOTAS key mappings so that I don’t have to set them up all over again? I’ve lost all my notes on the topic so I’m just trying to save some time if possible.

@VIPER.-0 ok, that makes sense and looking forward to whats on the horizon! I just wanted to have a sanity check in case I was missing something on my end that I need to install or configure.

RE: Anything specific regarding the demo 4.37_U4 videos with "Special FX and Sound Design has been added..."?
@VIPER.-0 To clarify, I’m referring to last year’s the 4.37-U4 promo YouTube videos linked in the Announcements section:
At the end of the video is mentioned that “Special FX…” was added. Just curious what kind of enhancements were made that would not be available in the “out of the box” stock game?
My 2nd question related to the future 4.38 BMS version, the screenshots being posted are they assumed to be “out of the box” with 4.38 - OR - will same kind of additional “FX enhancements” be needed such as 3rd party add-ons, skins, shaders, etc. to achieve the same jaw-dropping results after a stock install of upcoming 4.38?

Anything specific regarding the demo 4.37_U4 videos with "Special FX and Sound Design has been added..."?
Regarding the small disclaimer at the end of the recent videos, just curious as to what (in general) was added/enhanced in that I would not be able to get with the stock install of 4.37.7.0 release?
With the roadmap being to get to a more DCS updated graphics with 4.38, is this something that will be automatically enabled/rolled out or does more configuring, tweaking and 3rd party mods come into play to get it there?

@Slick8791-0 that sounds fine and correct – well done!
Sometimes Windows driver stack will generate new IDs and this dance has to be done
It can happen, eg. when unplugging and replugging into a different USB hub
Good to know! At least I don’t have to spend time scrolling and clicking key by key to set everything back up again.
Thanks again everyone for the help and support!

@Icarus basically all situations
well, except if you’re moving to a new PC, or if reinstalled Windows etc
then, the DirectInput device IDs in the Setup.xml file names, may need to be adjusted*
@airtex2019 Hoping you may be able to expand on how that might be done as I am looking to reinstall Windows 11 within the next few weeks or so.
Also, an update as I did replace the Axismapping.dat file with my old backup but it seems the launcher kept creating brand new .xml files for the HOTAS as the new xml file names do not have the same meta data string. So, I did a copy/paste of the xml’s data from the old files and into the new ones which seems to have worked.
Old:
Setup.v100.Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {49F54010-19B1-11EF-8001-444553540000}New:
Setup.v100.Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {809E1B40-0895-11F0-8001-444553540000}I am seeing my old HOTAS button mappings to appear now in the AL but haven’t taken it for a test flight yet. To clarify, the backup files were created on the same Windows 11 installation that the new BMS (re)install was done on so maybe I’m missed something on the easier side on this mapping restore?

RE: BMS Re-Install - Is an Alternative Launcher Keymapping Restore Possible?
@Apolo27 Received and acknowledged! Thanks to all and I’ll give it a shot with the selected files, etc. rather than a total copy/past of the Config folder.

@Apolo27 Thank you and I’ll give that a shot!

@Slick8791-0 thanks for the reminder, that the whole idea of Launcher overwriting lines in a file named “User.cfg” is janky and needs to evolve to something better
I’m glad I was able to provide something on my end in return!!!
Also wanted to confirm that fixed the issue on my end and have all three flags now in the Falcon BMS user.cfg file - where they should be - and they are not being erased!

@Slick8791-0 said in Throttle HOTAS Warthog:
I had to put them in the Falcon BMS.cfg file rather than the Falcon BMS user.cfg file because they kept getting erased by the Launcher. No matter where I placed the text the Launcher cleared the lines. Having them in the Falcon BMS.cfg works fine but I understand a new BMS version may overwrite that file as well and everywhere in the forums they say to put them in the user.cfg file not the BMS.cfg file.
So, if the user.cfg file should be the place to house those settings then something is still off on my end with using the Launcher, but
please put the lines in Falcon BMS User.cfg … but trim off the
// SETUP OVERRIDE
partthat is the tag which indicates lines owned (and overwritten) by the launcher!
(I thought I changed that to “// LAUNCHER OVERRIDE” to be a little more clear … but it will still detect and override lines tagged with the old tag keywords)
Ah, that makes sense! I added the tag on my own not knowing any better. ;(
I’ll give that another try as well, thanks again!!!
