Windows 10

Also, Windows 10 as an upgrade is quite heavy to drive for any system. Plus its size is at least 5 times more than with a clean install.
Run disk cleanup, go into advanced mode, and it can clean up the old Windows folder plus the installation folder. I got back 27GB.

I figured I would post this Cougar Relevant info here…
WARNING!!: in Windows 10 I am unable to FLASH the Firmware in the Cougar. I have tried countless ways to do it and none of them work… I believe this is ONLY in Windows 10… I am able to flash the same stick in Win 7 but they do not carry over…
If anybody has any ideas I am all ears

Compatibility mode?

You can perform the upgrade with the downloadable ISO from microsoft.

Interesting, I did the upgrade on my laptop using the ISO version and didn’t need to go through the process regarding backing up my license? The upgrade has just recognised my win7 license and now 10 is activated.
I also didn’t have to backup the product key of the win X upgrade. I did the installation of win X before the upgrade. Then I installed win 7 on a second partition, and did the upgrade. when the update was done, WinX on both partitions was activated without my hands.

I’ve done a clean install of Win10 and now my warthog dowsn’t work in the 3d world - anyone else having this issue?

Like I said in another post, we will probably have this issues for some time before they are resolved. Sticking with 7 for now.

If you updated from win7 or older it wont work for you…. I found that win 8.1 changed how USB devices are managed-I think it has to do with being a tablet friendly OS. Win 8.1 apparently puts all USB devices to sleep that aren’t sending a signal of being used. mouse, keyboard, trackIR and rudder pedals don’t have a problem, but when I used target, I couldn’t load a profile until I edited the registry of my USB items to force energy management off. Now however, my joystick is identified as usb item 6 instead of what it used to be, so I can load profiles and launch falcon, but the joystick part doesn’t load. I’m going to wipe all my target and thrustmaster devices and start from scratch to see if that fixes it. I can use all the devices fine when I don’t load a profile- ie in DCS, strike fighters 2, or IL-2 CloD. It only happens if its a profile load from target.
UPDATE*
wiping and reinstalling just the hotas warthog driver did the trick, no issues whatsoever now. -
Anyone tried X-65F and Win10 yet ?

UPDATE*
wiping and reinstalling just the hotas warthog driver did the trick, no issues whatsoever now.For me, running Falcon in win7 compatibility mode did the trick. I’m using the DX functions and hence I think there was a prob with DX12 incompatibility.

Come on give me a bit more credit then that… But yes I tried that…
Well I thought you would try it… but u know some times the simplest things slip our mind… Didn’t mean anything personal just trying to help.
-
Well I’ve got to say Arty, your comment helped my issue
When I read that, I checked compatibility mode and my issue was resolved, so thanks mate!

Some have reported inability to flash the Cougar HOTAS under Win 10. Is this a general issue or user-specific? Is flashing the ONLY issue – are the Cougar and CCP generally functional under Win 10?

I did not see during download and installation ny ability to not update drivers and now I cannot rollback the ATI driver resulting in graphics corruption and it won’t let me use the old driver that works stating windows has the best driver installed please advise how I can turn that off and reinstall old driver thank you!

Yes I know I was just saying I appreciate the help but this is totaly wierd as to why it will not work. I just need a solution soon or it is back to win 7

Microsoft said I cannot change to old ATI driver (that works) so I had to rollback to Windows 8.

Could you not just delete the driver in device manager and reinstall a different one?
-
negative. When I try to install the older driver I get message stating windows has determined I already have the best driver and rollback driver option is greyed out. Maybe if I could find the new one yet I am unable to open the catalyst control center also. Bogus!
-
That sucks. Were you signed in as an administrator for the win 10 install? If not the rollback driver option will be greyed out.
You probably were, just checking.
Were you on pro or home?
