X55 worth getting?
-
After watching it for a few mins since i messed around with the throttle theres been more commands that come up, which seems like a ghost is pressing them, and all the commands are mapped on my throttle (CMS Forward, IFF In, toggle air brakes, AP pitch toggle, and few others) so i guess it is this ghosting that you mention, oh and i notice the throttle gauge on the setup screen (the one which you see move up and down when you move your throttle) i notice that seems to twitch, like its blinking.
-
Looks like you may a ghosting issue. Recommend that you get a “powered” USB Hub and connect your throttle to it. That is what I had to do to get rid of the ghosting. The USB Hubs are fairly cheap by the way.

one other consideration, are there any good BMS Profiles supporting the X55? I know there are some nice ones for the X52 Pro such as Scuby’s.
Here’s the one I use. It’s been good for both A2A and A2G.
And this is the configuration in my KEY file for just the HOTAS portion, with another user obviously having to change the DX device button numbers. I’ve left my MFDs in this so you can see what I leave for the extra GAIN, BRIGHT, SYM, and CON rocker switches. I’m also using HELIOS for my ICP and left/right cockpit panels, along with some from the front panel.
I use the X55 Profiler software to map the FCS paddle to toggle FRAPS on/off, as well as the Throttle slider to the NVG toggle.

Ah i see, yea looks like this is the issue. I’ve been reading other peoples’ posts about it and some say the ghosting stopped when they changed usb ports, like from usb 2 to 3 ports. I dont know what ports are 2 and what are 3 to be honest but i do have other ports i can try. I’ll see hopefully can resolve this without having to buy a hub.
-
Found out USB 3 ports are blue in colour and are supposedly more powerful than usb 2 ports. Well my throttle was plugged in to a 2 port and changed it to 3 (have two usb 3 ports at the back of my tower) and now seems that the ghosting is even worse…so much for usb 3 ports.

Roger that. I also heard about changing the ports but in some cases it did not help. Yes, USB 3 ports are blue in color. Anyway, try the powered USB hub and see what happens. I read somewhere the technical problem…but cannot remember where it is now.

Yea will do man, i’ll buy one at a shop tomorrow. Just wanna get this sorted out, coz i cant play the game with this ghosting going on. I guess my pc doesnt have enough power to sustain my X55 throttle, its weird though with how it seems to pick up buttons, like it detects them being pressed, i dont get it. I think that if the pc cant sustain the throttle, then it shouldnt work at all, or you’d think it would sporadically go on and off…but this ghosting is weird.

I initially tried to resolve this issue with the Saitek representative(s). They sent me a number of emails with suggestions to correct the ghosting…nothing worked. Then I ran across a thread on another forum that recommended the powered USB hub…that did the trick. Hope it works for you as well. Let me know the outcome.

Will do and thanks, fingers crossed.

Drac what powered hub have you got? whats the make and model?

Ok cool and is that what you plug your X55 throttle into? i’ll see if i can get it tomorrow.

Yes.

Ok well i just got a Belkin USB 2.0 4 port powered hub, and at first i was pretty peed off, as the ghosting was happening, but it happened just twice, stopped, happened once more. After a few mins was getting no ghosting and all i get now is the occasional ghosting of button 15 which is mapped to UHF, and if this is all i’ll get then its no problem but will need to keep monitoring it for a bit. My guess is the hub needs a few mins to power up properly so at the moment it seems ok, a few questions.
1. I hadnt mapped button 15 to anything, coz i dont know where it is, i cannot find it on neither my stick or throttle, do you know where it is?
2. How can i unbind a function for one of my buttons on my stick/throttle? is it possible? so for example right now i have button 64 (M1 selector switch button on throttle) mapped to ICP-Nav, can i change this to unassigned?
3. My slider switch on my throttle isnt recognised in the setup, is yours recognised? -

3. My slider switch on my throttle isnt recognised in the setup, is yours recognised?Question 1: Not sure what you mean by Button 15. All the buttons are Alpha or Alpha Numeric.
Question 2: I have not found a way yet. At the moment, I bind the keys to a non-functioning command on my keyfile through the Setup Tab or just assign it to another function you will need.
Question 3. My slider is assigned to my third party software called “Attack Command”. It is an on/off switch. Forward to give verbal commands and Back to turn off the Attack Command. There are others out there who use the slider for their Airbrakes. -
Q1….If you use Windows game controller it gives you the number of each button
Q2…As Drac says
Q3… Mines the same. I’m told you can assign it via site’s software but I’d rather assign mine in game so it’s dead atm…Gary
Just checked and button 15 is tgl 2… (back) on mine…

Understand now on Button 15. I have been to that Windows game controller before trying to troubleshoot the ghosting problem I initially had before I got the powered USB hub.
-
Thats it Gary- i’ve found it, well at least the pc has found it. In windows settings for my stick it shows button 15 as permanently highlighted, like its being pressed without being released. I’m guessing this is some kind of fault with the software as i am pressing all buttons i can see (including hats) on the stick and they all highlight and work. I have 14 buttons on the stick (not including POV hat) but for some reason in settings it has buttons 15,16 and 17, with 15 being pressed all the time, very strange. Whats more weird still is that button 15 in BMS setup is assigned to UHF, which i already have binded to another button on my throttle.
What do you guys think and how many buttons do your windows settings pick up?
-
And some more weirdness, in BMS it recognises the buttons on my throttle from like 34 upwards, but in windows settings they’re 1-32.

I am not sure if viewing the highlights on the Windows setting really is a concern. I initially thought something was wrong until I got a hold of the Saitek Representative. What specifically is the issue you are trying to resolve at this point…still trying to unassign a button?
